Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in SQL Server Administration, patch planning & implementation, and Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience managing production SQL environments, planning and executing SQL Server patching activities, ensuring high availability, performance tuning, backup & recovery, and supporting Azure-based database infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure, upgrade, and administer Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022).
- Plan, schedule, and execute SQL Server patching activities across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
- Coordinate patch implementation with application, infrastructure, and business teams to minimize downtime.
- Perform SQL Server upgrades, cumulative updates (CU), and security patch deployments.
- Monitor SQL Server health, performance, and availability.
- Configure and maintain SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication, and Failover Clustering.
- Perform database backup, restore, disaster recovery, and recovery testing.
- Troubleshoot database performance issues using execution plans, indexing, and query optimization.
- Implement database security, permissions, and compliance best practices.
- Manage Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Virtual Machines.
- Monitor Azure resources using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and alerts.
- Automate routine DBA activities using PowerShell, T-SQL, or SQL Agent Jobs.
- Prepare documentation for patching,



maintenance activities, and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in on-call production support and incident management.

Required Skills

- 5+ years of SQL Server DBA experience.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server Installation, Configuration, and Administration.
- Experience in SQL Server patch planning and implementation.
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server upgrades and Cumulative Updates (CU).
- Expertise in Backup & Recovery strategies.
- Experience with Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster, Log Shipping, and Replication.
- Strong performance tuning and query optimization skills.
- Experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and Azure Virtual Machines.
- Knowledge of Azure Storage, Virtual Networks, Azure Backup, Azure Monitor, and Log Analytics.
- Good understanding of Windows Server Administration.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting or automation.
- Robust troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Preferred Skills

- Azure Administration experience.
- Experience with Azure DevOps or CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of Terraform, ARM Templates, or Infrastructure as Code.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Redgate SQL Monitor, SolarWinds DPA, SCOM, or equivalent.

Nice to Have

- Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, DP-300).
- Experience working in enterprise production environments.
- Exposure to cloud migration projects.
- Knowledge of scripting using Python or PowerShell.

Education

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
