Role & responsibilities
- Design and develop custom Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) and automation lines.
- Design and develop custom Special Purpose Machines from concept to final assembly
- Create 3D models, assembly drawings, and manufacturing details using SolidWorks or Creo.
- Design and develop robust pneumatic actuators and hydraulic actuators with complete circuits for clamping, indexing, and actuation.
- Select standard mechanical components like bearings and rails from standard vendors.
- Prepare detailed 2D manufacturing drawings, bills of materials (BOM), and assembly instructions.
- Perform basic engineering calculations for motors, gearboxes, pneumatics, and structural frames.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, assembly, and testing teams during machine building.
- Review designs with cross-functional teams for safety, cost, and manufacturability.
- Support assembly, testing, and trial runs on the shop floor.
- Troubleshoot assembly issues and optimize designs for cost, safety, and performance.
- Resolve technical issues during manufacturing and commissioning.
- Prepare user manuals, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and maintenance documentation.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
- 4 to 6 years of hands-on experience in SPM design and industrial automation.
- Expertise in 3D CAD software like SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA.
- Solid knowledge of pneumatic components (valves, cylinders, FRL units) and circuit design.
- Practical understanding of hydraulic systems (pumps, manifolds, actuators, pressure controls).
- Understanding of PLC, HMI, and Servo system and electrical actuators.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes like machining, sheet metal, Laser cutting, Surface treatments.
