Position: Speech Therapist / Speech-Language Pathologist

Target Group: Children with disabilities, developmental delays, and other paediatric conditions

About the Role

We are looking for a qualified, compassionate, and child-friendly Speech Therapist to provide assessment and therapy services to children with disabilities and developmental delays.

The therapist will be responsible for assessing speech, language, communication, feeding, and swallowing-related concerns; preparing individualized intervention plans; conducting therapy sessions; and guiding parents and caregivers to support the child’s development at home.

The role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated and child-centred rehabilitation services.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct speech, language, communication, feeding, and swallowing assessments for children.
- Plan and deliver individualized speech and language therapy sessions based on each child’s needs, abilities, and developmental goals.
- Work with children with conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability, developmental delay, Down syndrome, hearing impairment, speech delay, and multiple disabilities.
- Support children in areas including:
- Speech clarity and articulation
- Receptive and expressive language
- Social communication and interaction
- Fluency and voice
- Oral-motor development
- Feeding and swallowing
- Pre-verbal and early communication skills
- Alternative and Augmentative Communication
- Prepare Individualized Therapy Plans with measurable short-term and long-term goals.
- Conduct one-on-one and small-group therapy sessions.
- Use play-based, activity-based, and child-friendly therapy methods appropriate for paediatric cases.
- Guide parents and caregivers on home-based activities and strategies to reinforce therapy goals.
- Maintain child-wise assessment records, session notes, progress reports,



and monthly updates.
- Regularly review children’s progress and modify intervention plans based on clinical observations and outcomes.
- Coordinate with special educators, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, paediatricians, and programme teams.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, parent meetings, clinical reviews, and programme meetings.
- Recommend communication aids, assistive devices, and alternative communication tools wherever required.
- Support awareness programmes, parent training sessions, screenings, and community-based activities when required.
- Ensure that all therapy sessions are safe, inclusive, engaging, and adapted to the child’s functional abilities.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech and Hearing, Speech-Language Pathology, or Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.
- Valid Rehabilitation Council of India registration is preferred and may be required based on organisational and programme requirements.
- Experience working with children with disabilities, developmental delays, and paediatric rehabilitation cases.
- Sound understanding of child development, early intervention, speech and language development, feeding and swallowing, and parent-led intervention approaches.

Skills Required
- Strong clinical knowledge of paediatric speech, language, communication, and swallowing therapy.
- Ability to assess children and develop appropriate intervention plans and measurable therapy goals.
- Ability to engage children through activities, toys,



visuals, games, and play-based methods.
- Good communication and counselling skills while interacting with children, parents, and caregivers.
- Patience, empathy, creativity, and a child-friendly approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team.
- Good documentation, reporting, and case-management skills.
- Ability to work with children and families from rural, low-income, and underserved communities.
- Proficiency in English and at least one regional language. Knowledge of Kannada and Hindi will be an advantage.
- Basic proficiency in digital tools such as Google Sheets, Google Docs, WhatsApp, and online documentation systems.

Preferred Experience
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in paediatric speech and language therapy.
- Experience working with children with disabilities and developmental delays.
- Experience in early intervention centres, child development centres, special schools, inclusive education programmes, hospitals, clinics, or community-based rehabilitation programmes.
- Experience providing feeding and swallowing interventions for paediatric cases will be an advantage.
- Experience guiding and training parents or caregivers on home-based therapy activities.
- Freshers with relevant clinical exposure, strong skills, and valid professional registration may also be considered.

Documentation and Reporting Expectations
- Maintain accurate child-wise assessment and therapy records.
- Document therapy goals, session activities, observations, and progress.
- Prepare monthly progress updates and periodic reassessment reports.
- Share easy home-practice activities with parents after sessions.
- Ensure confidentiality and appropriate handling of children’s clinical and personal information.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
