About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Infrastructure Architect for our ADAS/Autonomy Solutions team at Qualcomm India Private Limited. This pivotal role involves leading the design and development of safety-related software architecture for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving solutions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and implementing safety monitoring, lifecycle management, resource monitoring, self-test mechanisms, and safety state handling within the software architecture, ensuring compliance with international safety standards such as ISO 26262, SOTIF, and ASPICE.
This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including safety managers, system architects, software engineers, and customer stakeholders. The architect will oversee the integration of safety infrastructure with the SoC platform and middleware, including Adaptive Autosar and Classic Autosar, ensuring seamless interfacing and compliance. The position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the safety architecture of next-generation ADAS/AD systems, contributing to the development of reliable, safe, and high-performance automotive solutions that push the boundaries of autonomous driving technology.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field,
with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in software engineering or a related domain. Alternatively, a Master’s degree with 3 years or a PhD with 2 years of industry experience will also be considered.
Proven expertise in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python is essential, along with a strong understanding of software architecture, safety standards, and automotive embedded systems.
Additionally, candidates should have extensive experience in defining and implementing safety-critical software architectures for automotive ECUs, including knowledge of ISO 26262, ISO 21448, ISO 21434, and ASPICE standards. Familiarity with automotive SoC architecture, ARM processors, RTOS such as QNX, Linux, OSEK, and BSP development is highly desirable. A solid understanding of middleware frameworks, safety analysis tools, and requirements management tools such as DOORS or Codebeamer will be advantageous.
The ability to work collaboratively across global teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels is crucial.
Responsibilities The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the development of safety infrastructure software architecture for ADAS/AD systems, ensuring adherence to industry safety standards and best practices. This includes defining the architecture for safety monitoring, lifecycle management, resource utilization, health monitoring, self-tests, and safety mechanism implementation.
The architect will oversee the design and integration of safety features within the software stack, including interfacing with hardware platforms and middleware such as Autosar.
Ensuring compliance with ISO 26262 and other relevant safety standards throughout the software development lifecycle is critical. The role involves collaborating with safety managers,
system architects, and testing teams to validate safety requirements, perform risk assessments like FMEA and FTA, and support safety audits. The architect will also be responsible for defining software requirements, conducting architecture reviews, and guiding implementation teams to develop robust, reliable, and compliant safety infrastructure.
Additional responsibilities include working with Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers to define safety architecture at different levels, supporting safety analysis activities, and ensuring the integration of safety features with vehicle platforms. The role demands staying updated with evolving safety standards, automotive industry trends, and emerging technologies to continuously improve safety architecture strategies.
