General Definition Of Work

This position is the supervisor for Child Protective Services. The primary purpose of this position is the supervision of employees who complete investigations and family assessments. The supervisor is responsible for supervising 5 Social Worker IA&T.;

Responsibilities include implementing recent policies and procedures, monitoring staff performance, and reviewing case documentation for accuracy and compliance. The supervisor is also responsible for distributing workloads and directing work throughout the unit to ensure standards are met, to identify staffing needs, and organizing unit operations. The role also involves conducting regular case staffing and performance evaluations and ensuring adherence to applicable policies and best practices.

The supervisor also participates in the agency’s after-hours on-call rotation, providing guidance and support for employees who are on call. Job responsibilities also include consultation, planning and review of intakes and court-involved cases; preparing statistical and budget data to submit for state surveys and the fiscal year budget. Other duties may be assigned as required to support the mission and objectives of the agency. This position is classified as exempt.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Knowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training. Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems.



Considerable knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment and governmental and private organizations and community resources.

Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies which govern social work programs. Ability to supervise, train, or orient lower-level social workers, students, interns, or other staff. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.

Education And Experience

Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a master’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of directly related experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
