Job Summary
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Storage Data Protection Engineering . As a Backup specialist, you will be tasked with the management, configuration, and maintenance of our backup and recovery systems. You will ensure data protection and integrity, implement disaster recovery plans, and provide technical support for backup solutions to meet the organization's IT infrastructure requirements.
In this role, you will:
Develop and document Data Protection (backup) strategies and architectures.
Design, implement, and manage Data Protection (backup) solution for Veritas NetBackup and Commvault backup and recovery systems
Manage, configuration and implementation skills in Veritas NetBackup and Commvault platform.
Ensure that all storage and backup systems are compliant with industry standards and regulations
Plan and implement backup and recovery solutions, ensuring data protection and disaster recovery capabilities.
Provide engineering support on the bank’s data protection products and their standard usage.
Undertake product evaluation, new features, and versions.
Recommend appropriate technologies and solutions based on business needs and technical requirements
Manage data lifecycle, including archiving, deletion, and retention policies.
Ensure data integrity and security through proper storage and backup configurations
Mentor less experienced members of staff To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
Strong understanding of data protection and disaster recovery principles
Proven experience with Veritas NetBackup software
Experience with backup and recovery software: Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, Dell Data Domain etc.
Knowledge of data management principles: Data lifecycle, archiving, retention policies, etc.
Experience with virtualization technologies: VMware, Hyper-V.
Scripting (Python, Shell)
Network Troubleshooting
Solid problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
