Role Summary: A senior Structural Engineering SME to serve as the technical backbone and communication bridge for a software modernization program. The role owns engineering correctness of the requirements, calculation logic, and code compliance codified in the client's structural design software products, and acts as the primary coordination point between the client's product/engineering teams and the Neilsoft development team, translating engineering intent into implementable specifications and validating that delivered software behaves as a structural engineer would expect.

- Act as the definitive structural engineering authority for the development team, resolving ambiguity in requirements related to modelling, load cases, analysis, and code checks
- Guide the design of the shared calculation core internal force/deformation/reaction calculations, load combinations, and code-based verification of members, connections, and anchors (Eurocodes, relevant national annexes, client-specific design rules and product technical limits)
- Review and validate structural assumptions, simplifications, and edge cases carried over from legacy offline tools, ensuring the new platform is at least equivalent and ideally improved in engineering rigor.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the client's internal product/engineering teams and the Neilsoft development team on all matters of structural engineering content
- Facilitate and lead technical workshops with client subject matter experts to capture, clarify, and document engineering requirements, design rules, and product logic
- Translate the client's engineering requirements into explicit functional specifications, use cases, and acceptance criteria that developers, QA, and business analysts can implement and test against.
- Track open engineering questions and decisions to closure, maintaining a single source of truth accessible to both organizations
- Reviewing software-calculated outputs — fixing/anchor selection, load checks, against manual/reference calculations for correctness
- Translating fastening/anchoring engineering standards into clear, testable requirements for the development team
- Define and review test cases / reference calculations (hand calculations or benchmark models) to verify the calculation core and application outputs against expected engineering results.
- Support solution architects in scoping FEM solver integration, code-check modules and reporting/BOM logic from an engineering correctness standpoint.
- Review generated technical reports, cutting lists and BOM outputs for engineering accuracy and completeness.
- Support UAT and pilot rollouts with client engineering users and subsidiaries, gathering and prioritizing feedback
- Build and maintain engineering documentation: design basis, calculation methodology, standards mapping, and known limitations.
- Mentor Neilsoft development team / analysts and QA engineers on structural engineering fundamentals relevant to the product, improving the team's independent domain fluency over time.
Required Skills/Abilities:

- Strong written/verbal English communication for client-facing work with stakeholders
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil / Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- 12–18+ years of structural engineering experience, including structural analysis and design of steel, aluminium and/or connection/anchor systems.
- Strong working knowledge of Eurocodes (EC0–EC9) and relevant national annexes; familiarity with anchor/fastening design (e.g., EOTA/ETAG, EN 1992-4) is a strong plus given Fischer's fastening technology domain.
- Hands-on experience with structural analysis/FEM tools (e.g., SCIA, RFEM/RSTAB, STAAD, ANSYS, or equivalent) and understanding of how such solvers are typically encapsulated within engineering software.
- Prior exposure to structural design software development, digitalization, or engineering IT projects – either as an SME, product owner, or requirements lead – is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with BIM/CAD data exchange (IFC, DWG) and general software delivery processes (Agile/Scrum) sufficient to work fluently with a development team.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with proven ability to coordinate across two organizations, cultures and time zones (India – Europe).
- Fluent written and spoken English; German language skills are an advantage but not mandatory
Good to Have:
- Experience with MEP support systems, channel/rail systems, or ventilated facade substructures specifically
- Prior experience writing functional/technical specifications for engineering calculation software or configurators
- Exposure to Product Information Management (PIM) systems or product configuration logic in an industrial/building products context
