Position: Senior Software Engineer

Type: Contractor (Part-Time, ~15 Hours/Week)

Compensation: $100–$150/hour

About the Prospect

This opportunity is for experienced Senior Software Engineers interested in contributing to advanced AI research and evaluation projects. You'll apply your software engineering expertise to help train next-generation AI systems by designing realistic software engineering workflows and evaluating how AI models perform on complex coding and engineering tasks.

No prior AI experience is required. Your software engineering expertise and real-world development experience are the primary qualifications for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Design and develop reinforcement learning (RL) environments that evaluate AI models on realistic software engineering workflows.

Create reproducible engineering tasks covering debugging, feature implementation, codebase refactoring, performance optimization, and system maintenance.

Develop high-quality reference solutions for complex software engineering challenges.

Evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, maintainability, scalability, efficiency, and software engineering best practices.

Design engineering workflows involving common developer tools such as Git, Docker, GDB, AddressSanitizer (ASan), FFmpeg, and other command-line utilities.

Document engineering workflows, assumptions, and reference solutions to support AI model evaluation.

Collaborate with technical reviewers to improve evaluation quality and maintain consistent engineering standards.





Required Qualifications

3+ years of professional Software Engineering experience.

Strong proficiency in Python, Java, Rust, Go, TypeScript, C++, or a similar programming language, with hands-on experience developing production-quality software.

Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, software architecture, debugging, testing, and performance optimization.

Proven experience with feature development, codebase refactoring, and maintaining scalable software systems.

Experience designing, building, testing, and optimizing production-level software applications.

Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with large-scale distributed systems or cloud-native applications.

Experience participating in code reviews, software architecture discussions, and engineering best practices.

Familiarity with AI, machine learning, or large language model (LLM) applications is a plus.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps workflows, containers, or cloud platforms.

Open-source contributions, technical leadership, or mentoring experience are advantageous.

Compensation

Competitive compensation of $100–$150/hour.
