Job Overview LPL Financial is seeking a Data Product Analyst to support Product Pricing, Security Master, and Enterprise Reference Data capabilities within our data platform ecosystem. This role sits at the intersection of Product Management, Data Product Ownership, Data Governance, and Business Analysis, helping define, govern, and evolve critical data products that support advisors, trading, operations, compliance, reporting, and enterprise analytics.
The Data Product Analyst will focus on ensuring security reference data, pricing data, and related data distribution services are accurate, trusted, governed, and fit for purpose across the organization. The role supports Source of Record (SOR) strategies, data quality management, security onboarding, pricing governance, and downstream data consumption, while partnering closely with business, operations, engineering, architecture, and data governance teams.
The ideal candidate combines robust analytical skills with knowledge of financial instruments, security master and reference data management, pricing and valuation concepts, data lineage, and data governance practices. They are comfortable translating complex data ecosystems into actionable insights, driving data quality improvements, and supporting scalable, enterprise-wide data products and services.
Responsibilities Product Pricing, Security Master & Reference Data Enablement
- Partner with Product Managers and Capability Owners to support Product Pricing, Security Master, and Reference Data strategies and initiatives.
- Help define and refine enterprise data products that support advisors, cross functional SORs, trading, operations, compliance, reporting, and analytics consumers.
- Analyze data dependencies, source systems, and downstream impacts to inform platform and roadmap decisions.
- Support decisions around data standardization, source-of-record (SOR) strategies, and enterprise reference data management.
Product Discovery & Capability Support
- Support product discovery by helping translate business, operational, and regulatory needs into clear data-centric problem statements.
- Contribute to roadmap planning by evaluating value, risk, complexity, and business impact across pricing and reference data initiatives.
- Help define outcomes and success measures for Security Master, Pricing, and Reference Data capabilities (e.g., quality, timeliness, accuracy, adoption, operational efficiency).
- Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improving data quality, governance, and scalability.
Advanced Data Analysis & Problem Solving
- Perform hands-on exploration and diagnostic analysis across security master, pricing platforms, reference data repositories, and downstream applications.
- Investigate data quality issues, pricing discrepancies, lineage gaps, reconciliation exceptions, and semantic inconsistencies impacting consumers.
- Conduct impact analysis for schema changes, recent data sources, vendor conversions, platform modernization efforts, or system decommissioning activities.
- Identify systemic issues in data sourcing, transformation, distribution, or consumption and recommend durable solutions.
Data Product Ownership (Supporting / Domain-Level)
- Support Data Product Owners by helping define:
- Data contracts, schemas, and business definitions
- Data quality rules, validation logic, and governance controls
- Source-of-record (SOR) strategies and critical data elements (CDEs)
- Usage expectations, stewardship responsibilities, and downstream dependencies
- Maintain traceability between business requirements, data products, source systems, and technical implementation.
- Partner with engineering, architecture, governance, and operations teams to support scalable, reusable data management and distribution patterns.
Data Governance & Stewardship
- Support governance and stewardship of Security Master, Product Master, Pricing, and Reference Data domains.
- Help establish and maintain authoritative data sources, ownership models, and data quality standards.
- Analyze impacts of new security onboarding, corporate actions, instrument lifecycle events, and vendor source changes.
- Partner with governance teams to improve data lineage, transparency, accountability, and regulatory compliance.
Agile Execution & Delivery
- Contribute to Jira artifacts (features, stories, acceptance criteria) with strong pricing, security master, and reference data context.
- Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and demos to ensure work reflects validated business, operational, and consumer needs.
- Support prioritization decisions by providing evidence-based impact, risk, dependency, and value analysis.
- Assist with requirements gathering, data mapping, testing, and implementation support for data platform initiatives.
Stakeholder Communication & Influence
- Act as an analytical partner to Product Managers, Operations, Engineering, Architecture, Data Governance, and business stakeholders.
- Communicate complex pricing, security reference data, and platform concepts in clear, decision-ready narratives.
- Help align stakeholders across domains by grounding conversations in data quality, governance requirements, business impacts, and trade-offs.
- Support collaboration with external data providers and internal consumers to improve trust and adoption of enterprise data products.

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Product Analytics, Data Analysis, Data Product Ownership, Reference Data Management, Security Master Operations, or related data-focused roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL (advanced querying, joins, reconciliation, and data validation).
- Experience working with Security Master, Product Master, Pricing Platforms, Market Data, or Enterprise Reference Data environments.
- Experience adopting emerging AI-enabled capabilities to improve the speed, depth, and effectiveness of data analysis.
- Experience operating in Agile/Scrum environments with cross-functional product and engineering teams.
- Proven ability to work across ambiguity and translate complex data ecosystems into actionable insights.
- Solid understanding of:
- Financial instruments and investment products
- Security reference data and pricing concepts
- Data quality, lineage, metadata, and governance practices
- Source-of-record (SOR) and data stewardship concepts
- Data distribution, integration, and platform architecture

Core Competencies
- Experience supporting Security Master, Product Pricing, Reference Data, Market Data, or enterprise data management platforms.
- Familiarity with market and reference data vendors (Bloomberg, FactSet, Morningstar, ICE, Refinitiv, etc.).
- Experience performing impact analysis for data changes across multiple consuming systems and business functions.
- Familiarity with security onboarding, corporate actions, instrument lifecycle management, and valuation processes.
- Background in financial services, wealth management, brokerage, asset management, or other highly regulated environments.
- Exposure to Master Data Management (MDM), Reference Data Management, and enterprise data governance programs.
