Apeiron is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Machine Automation with 5–10 years of relevant experience to design and develop special purpose machines, automated assembly systems, robotic workstations, material-handling systems, jigs, fixtures, and industrial production equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the complete mechanical-design lifecycle, including requirement analysis, concept development, engineering calculations, 3D modelling, design analysis, detailed drawings, bill of materials, costing, design reviews, manufacturing support, testing, installation, and commissioning assistance. The role requires strong hands on experience in SolidWorks and advanced mechanical engineering principles.
Experience in automotive manufacturing, rubber-processing machinery, tyre manufacturing, industrial automation, or other high-volume production environments will be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize machines for bias-cutting, rolling mills, curing presses, building machines, testing machines, and assembly machines.
Develop concepts and detailed mechanical designs for special purpose machines, automated assembly systems, jigs, fixtures, moulds, conveyors, and material-handling equipment.
Prepare 3D models, manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, design calculations, and technical documentation using SolidWorks.
Design and select mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, robotic, and motion-control components.
Perform tolerance analysis, interference checks, stress analysis, and design validation.
Apply DFM, DFA, value-engineering, maintainability, and ergonomic design principles.
Coordinate mechanical interfaces with electrical, controls, robotics, vision, and safety systems.
Conduct process studies, implement lean principles, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with machinery safety requirements, customer specifications,
and applicable engineering standards.
Support technical estimation, costing, procurement, vendor evaluation, fabrication, and assembly activities.
Participate in design reviews, FAT, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and preparation of as-built documentation.
Lead assigned engineering activities and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
Research emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions for industrial automation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Diploma /Bachelor’s/master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
5-10 years of professional experience in SolidWorks and machine automation design.
Solid knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, and material handling systems.
Experience in automotive, rubber-processing, tyre-manufacturing, material-handling, or industrial automation projects is preferred.
Ability to prepare technical drawings, BOMs, cost estimates, specifications, and design documents.
Experience in process improvement, lean manufacturing, and value engineering.
Working knowledge of GD&T;, tolerance analysis, DFM, DFA, value engineering, and engineering change control.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Strong communication and documentation abilities.
Experience supporting manufacturing, machine assembly, FAT, installation, commissioning, or troubleshooting.
Ability to manage multiple engineering activities and work effectively within multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams.
Willingness to travel to customer, vendor, manufacturing, and project sites when required.
Preferred Additional Expertise
- Exposure to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
Knowledge of Industry 4.0 concepts smart manufacturing, IoT integration, and predictive maintenance.
Familiarity with PDM, PLM, ERP/MRP systems for design-to-production workflows.
Hands-on experience with robotic arms, vision systems, and automated inspection tools.
