Role Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Research Analyst with robust analytical, research, and report-writing skills. The ideal candidate should have experience in renewable energy or the power sector and be capable of independently leading research projects, managing stakeholders, and delivering high-quality market intelligence reports within deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the preparation and publication of quarterly, annual, and custom research reports.
- Conduct primary and secondary research across India's renewable energy and power sectors.
- Gather market intelligence through interactions with industry stakeholders, government agencies, developers, manufacturers, and investors.
- Analyze market trends, policies, regulations, investments, and industry developments.
- Develop financial models, market forecasts, and data-driven insights using advanced Excel.
- Design and execute research methodologies for consulting assignments and custom projects.
- Write clear, data-backed reports with minimal supervision while maintaining Mercom's editorial standards.
- Present research findings to clients through presentations, analyst briefings, webinars, and meetings.
- Support consulting engagements by providing market analysis and strategic recommendations.
- Attend industry conferences, exhibitions, and stakeholder meetings to collect market intelligence and represent Mercom.
- Manage multiple research projects simultaneously while ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Mentor junior analysts and coordinate research activities within the team.
- Collaborate with internal teams including Sales, News, Marketing, Data,



and Events to support business objectives.
- Maintain high standards of data accuracy, documentation, and research quality.
- Be accountable for project execution, timelines, and deliverables.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Energy Studies, or a related discipline.
- 3–7 years of experience in research, consulting, or market intelligence, preferably in the renewable energy or power sector.
- Proven experience in writing research reports and market analysis.
- Strong understanding of India's renewable energy ecosystem, government policies, and energy markets.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, Pivot Tables, and data analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills.
- Ability to independently manage projects and meet strict deadlines.

Preferred Skills

- Experience working with industry databases and research tools.
- Exposure to consulting projects and client advisory assignments.
- Presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of PowerPoint and data visualization tools.
- Familiarity with InDesign is an added advantage.
