We are looking for an experienced Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Data Architect to lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise-scale data platforms on Google Cloud. The ideal candidate will combine strong architectural leadership with deep technical expertise in modern data engineering and cloud-native services.

This role requires an individual who can confidently engage with client Enterprise Architects, Technology Leadership, Security teams, and Delivery teams to define scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions while ensuring successful implementation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for translating business and technical requirements into robust cloud architectures, driving architectural decisions, obtaining governance approvals, and providing technical leadership throughout the delivery lifecycle. Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Solution Design

Design end-to-end enterprise data platform architectures on Google Cloud.

Define scalable, resilient, secure, and high-performing data architectures for analytical and operational workloads.

Lead architecture discussions with client Enterprise Architects and senior technical stakeholders.

Drive architectural decision-making and document architecture decisions and rationale.





Produce high-quality architecture deliverables including solution designs, reference architectures, integration patterns, and technical documentation.

Present architecture proposals and support governance reviews including Technical Design Authority (TDA) approvals.

Ensure architectural alignment with enterprise standards, security policies, and cloud best practices.

Data Platform

Leadership

Design modern cloud-native data platforms supporting batch, streaming, analytics, AI/ML, and data sharing use cases.

Define data ingestion, processing, orchestration, storage, transformation, and serving architectures.

Design robust data models for analytical and operational reporting requirements.

Recommend appropriate architectural patterns for data lakes, lakehouses, warehouses, and hybrid data platforms.

Provide guidance on metadata management, data governance, master data management, lineage, and data quality.

Technical

Leadership

Provide technical leadership throughout the implementation lifecycle.

Break down architecture into deliverable work packages for engineering teams.

Define technical standards, implementation approaches, and development best practices.

Review implementation against architecture and ensure adherence to agreed design principles.

Support engineering teams in resolving complex technical challenges.

Collaborate closely with delivery teams to ensure architecture is implemented effectively and consistently. Security, Governance & Platform Excellence

Design secure cloud architectures aligned with enterprise security principles.

Define IAM strategies, service account design, encryption,



networking, and access controls.

Recommend approaches for platform security, data security, compliance, auditing, and governance.

Design monitoring, logging, observability, disaster recovery, backup, and operational support models.

Provide recommendations on cloud cost optimisation, FinOps, workload sizing, and operational efficiency.

Ensure solutions follow cloud architectural best practices for scalability, reliability, maintainability, and performance.

10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or Cloud Architecture.

5+ years of experience designing enterprise solutions on Google Cloud Platform.

Proven experience leading architecture engagements with enterprise customers.

Experience working with Enterprise Architecture teams and governance boards.

Experience obtaining Technical Design Authority (TDA) or equivalent architecture approvals.

Solid experience defining enterprise technology roadmaps and target-state architectures.

Experience delivering large-scale enterprise data transformation programmes. Certifications
