Role Description The Senior Data Engineer (Azure Data Lake) is a full-time remote role responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data solutions on Azure, with a focus on Azure Data Lake. This role includes implementing and optimizing data pipelines, integrating multiple data sources, and ensuring reliable Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes that support analytics and reporting. The individual will create and refine data models, develop and manage data warehouses and data lake structures, and collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring data workflows, improving performance and data quality, enforcing data governance and security standards, and contributing to architectural decisions and best practices for the data platform.

Qualifications





Robust Data Engineering skills, including building, orchestrating, and optimizing data pipelines on Azure (preferably Azure Data Lake and related services).

Proficiency in Data Modeling for analytical and operational workloads, with experience designing schemas for data lakes and data warehouses.

Hands-on experience with Extract Transform Load (ETL) tools and frameworks, including development, scheduling, monitoring, and performance tuning of ETL processes.

Background in Data Warehousing, including architecture, implementation, and maintenance of modern cloud-based data warehouse solutions.

Applied Data Analytics skills, with the ability to support BI and analytics teams by delivering well-structured, high-quality data sets.

Experience with Azure services (e.g., Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory) and scripting or programming (e.g., Python, SQL).

Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices, including data cataloging and metadata management.

Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, collaborate across cross-functional teams, and communicate complex technical concepts in clear, accessible language.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience in designing scalable, resilient data architectures and mentoring other data professionals is highly beneficial for this senior role.
