- Design and develop scalable backend systems and microservices.
- Build and maintain high‑performance REST APIs and ensure code quality, performance, and reliability.
- Drive system architecture decisions, focusing on scalability, performance optimization, and distributed/event‑driven designs.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver impactful features and own end‑to‑end delivery.
Must-Have Skills/Technologies:
- Java, Spring Boot (Microservices)
- RESTful API Development
- System Design, Scalability & Performance Optimization
- PostgreSQL / Elasticsearch (RDBMS & Search)
- Event‑driven Architecture (Kafka, SQS, Kinesis)
- AWS Cloud Services
- Docker / Kubernetes (Containerization)
- Strong problem‑solving ability
- Ownership and accountability
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment
- Effective collaboration with cross‑functional teams
Good-to-Have Soft Skills/Technologies:
- Mentoring or coaching junior engineers
- Robust communication skills
- Adaptability to evolving technologies
Responsibilities - Builds and owns backend services powering the product: the APIs the frontend calls, the databases that store data, and the event pipes (Kafka/SQS) that move data between services in real time. Reports to an Engineering Manager or Backend/Platform Lead; sits within a product engineering team of 5-10, alongside frontend, QA, and DevOps. Tech stack in plain terms: Java/Spring Boot writes business logic; Postgres stores structured data; Elasticsearch powers search; Kafka/SQS/Kinesis let services talk without waiting on each other; AWS + Docker/Kubernetes is where it all runs and scales.
