Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and client-focused Senior Accountant with strong expertise in Australian Accounting and Taxation to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in an Australian Public Accounting Firm and will be responsible for managing a portfolio of Australian clients, delivering high-quality accounting and taxation services, and building long-term client relationships.
This role combines technical accounting expertise with client advisory, team coordination, and leadership responsibilities. The successful candidate will work closely with the leadership team, mentor junior accountants, and contribute to process improvements while ensuring exceptional client service and compliance with Australian regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of Australian clients.
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service.
- Respond to client queries via email, phone, virtual meetings, and messaging platforms within agreed turnaround times.
- Understand clients' business objectives and provide practical accounting and financial guidance.
- Coordinate client onboarding, system setup, and documentation.
- Conduct client meetings, prepare meeting notes, and ensure timely follow-up on action items.
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell additional accounting, taxation, and advisory services.
Australian Accounting & Taxation
- Prepare and review Financial Statements for Australian businesses.
- Prepare and review Australian Income Tax Returns for Companies, Trusts, Partnerships, and Sole Traders.
- Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), GST Returns, and Payroll.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards,
ATO regulations, and taxation legislation.
- Review bookkeeping, reconciliations, and accounting work completed by the delivery team.
- Provide technical guidance on Australian accounting, taxation, and compliance matters.
Team Leadership & Project Coordination
- Coordinate workflow and task allocation with the India-based accounting team.
- Monitor project timelines and ensure timely delivery of client assignments.
- Mentor, train, and support junior accountants to enhance technical knowledge and performance.
- Review work quality and ensure compliance with internal quality standards.
- Drive continuous process improvements to improve efficiency and client satisfaction.
Business Support & Process Improvement
- Support leadership with reporting, operational initiatives, and business improvement projects.
- Assist in developing efficient accounting workflows and best practices.
- Contribute to client service improvements and operational excellence.
- Stay updated on changes in Australian taxation laws, accounting standards, and industry developments.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related field.
- CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification will be highly preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in an Australian Public Accounting Firm.
- Proven experience managing Australian clients independently.
- Strong exposure to Australian Taxation, BAS, GST, Payroll, Financial Statements, and Compliance.
- Experience leading teams or mentoring junior accountants is highly desirable.
- Experience working with international or remote teams will be an advantage.
- Exposure to the NDIS sector or advisory services will be an added advantage.
