Job Summary

The Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) will be responsible for ensuring the safe use of radiation within Vijaya Diagnostics’ facilities. This role is crucial to maintaining compliance with local and international regulations, ensuring that staff and patients are protected from unnecessary radiation exposure. The RSO will develop and enforce safety protocols, monitor radiation levels, and ensure all radiology equipment is operated within safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Radiation Safety Management

- Develop, implement, and oversee the radiation safety program.
- Ensure compliance with Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) and other relevant authorities.
- Monitor radiation exposure levels for staff and patients, and maintain records of radiation doses.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and safety checks on all radiation equipment CT, MRI, X-ray, etc.).

Training & Education :

- Provide radiation safety training for staff, including radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare personnel.
- Keep the team updated on any changes in radiation safety protocols or regulations.

Compliance & Documentation :

- Ensure compliance with national and international radiation safety standards.




- Prepare and submit mandatory reports to regulatory authorities.
- Maintain accurate records of radiation exposure, safety procedures, and incident reports.

Incident Response :

- Investigate and document any radiation-related incidents, accidents, or violations.
- Implement corrective actions and preventative measures to avoid future incidents.

Equipment Maintenance :

- Oversee the maintenance and calibration of radiation-emitting equipment.
- Work with vendors and engineers to ensure timely repairs and compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications Education :

- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Nuclear medicine, or a related field.
- RSO level 1 or 2 certification from AERB or equivalent.

Experience :

- At least 1-10 years of experience in radiation safety management, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Prior experience in diagnostics or radiology departments is an advantage.

Skills :

- Thorough knowledge of radiation safety principles and regulations.
- Strong communication and training skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using radiation monitoring equipment.

Working Conditions :
