Role Description The Protection Relay Engineer will be responsible for planning, executing, and documenting protection relay testing and commissioning activities for substations and industrial power systems. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing protection schemes, preparing test plans, performing relay configuration and settings, conducting functional and secondary injection tests, and troubleshooting protection-related issues on site and remotely. The role involves close collaboration with project teams, clients, and senior engineers to ensure that protection systems meet design requirements, safety standards, and applicable codes.

The engineer will also maintain accurate records, prepare technical reports, and support continuous improvement of testing procedures and quality practices.



This is a full time hybrid role based in Coimbatore, with a mix of on-site work and some work-from-home flexibility depending on project needs.

Qualifications

Strong understanding of power system protection principles, including relay coordination, fault analysis, and protection schemes for transmission and distribution networks.

Proficiency in protection relay configuration and testing using modern relay software and test equipment (e.g., secondary injection test sets, communication interfaces).

Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and protection logic drawings, and translate them into practical test procedures.

Experience preparing technical documentation such as test reports, commissioning records, and as-built protection settings, with attention to accuracy and clarity.

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline; relevant certifications in power system protection or testing are an advantage.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve protection issues under time and safety constraints.

Effective communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work safely at client sites, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and interact professionally with customers.

Willingness to travel to project locations as required, adhere to safety protocols, and work in a hybrid arrangement based
