WSP is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Principal BIM Technician – Civils to support the design and delivery of Lineside Rail Infrastructure Projects & Level Crossing Projects in UK-GCC T&I; Team.

The candidate to have expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and CAD design, ensuring accurate, coordinated, and efficient design outputs that meet project standards and client requirements.

The Candidate should assist in growing the team, supporting others development and personal growth.

The candidate should be able to prepare technical outputs to the highest standards in accordance with the WSP quality management system.

Responsibilities

MicroStation Experience

- Proven ability to produce accurate 2D rail‑civils drawings to UK standards.
- Experience developing and checking 2D and 3D models for multidisciplinary rail projects.
- Familiar with applying CAD QA processes, CRA‑V practices and structured drawing checks.
- Able to work from survey data, topographical information and other discipline inputs.
- Work through full CAD lifecycle (site data – model – drawing – QA)

3D / BIM Experience

- Capable of creating 3D MicroStation models (track slab, walkways, structural elements).
- Able to generate long sections, cross sections and cut‑through views to show design changes, ground variation and asset interfaces.
- Clash detection awareness — able to identify clashes visually within the 3D setting (e.g., structures vs gauge, walkway vs equipment zones, civils vs signalling), supporting coordinated design reviews.
- Experience supporting BIM‑aligned workflows, including multidisciplinary model coordination.
- Comfortable using LiDAR / point cloud data to inform accurate 3D modelling.

? ProjectWise Experience

- Confident navigating ProjectWise, including check‑in/out, version control and workflow management - correct assurance process from Drawer- Designer-Checker-Approver and setting up Document Sets
- Ensures compliance with naming conventions, metadata requirements and document control processes.




- Experienced issuing and managing CAD models and drawings within ProjectWise for UK and international rail projects

?Rail Design Experience

- Base understanding of rail‑civils requirements, including key design principles such as gauges, clearances, heights, offsets, access/maintainability needs, structural constraints, and how these influence lineside civils, stations, depots and level crossing design.
- Level crossing design experience
- 3D modelling of UTX / URX Designs
- Understanding process of Technical Queries, how they are raised and what input from CAD would be required (sketches, checks, dimensions etc)
- Coordination with Multi Discipline teams like MEP, Architectural, E&P;, Telecoms etc.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree Civil / Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- 10 - 15 years’ experience in Rail infrastructure.
- Current competencies with relevant Rail Authorities (e.g. Network Rail, London Underground, TFL, etc).
- Ability to work on 3D MicroStation, AECOsim / OpenBuilding Designer, AutoCAD, Revit in adherence to defined CAD & BIM Standards.
- Perform clash detection using Navisworks / iTwin.
- Ability to build strong working relationships.
- Ability to work well in a team environment as well as being a self-starter able to work unsupervised.
