We make everything we sell. This is the person who will run the place where it is made. Dimensions is a bespoke luxury furniture house — our own design studio in Delhi, our own showroom on MG Road, and our own factory at IMT Manesar with about 120 people on the floor.
Nothing is bought in and marked up. Every piece is drawn here and built here, to the customer's size, stone, fabric and finish. We are looking for a Plant Head to run that factory. WHY THIS JOB IS DIFFERENT FROM A PLANT HEAD JOB IN A BIG FURNITURE COMPANY There is no mass production here and no long run of identical units.
A large share of what we build is one-off or modified — a bed at a size that does not exist in the catalogue, a credenza in a marble the customer chose last week, a dining table in a fluted profile our studio drew a month ago. So the challenge is not throughput. It is running a job-shop at a luxury finish standard, on a promised date, at a cost that holds the margin.
If you like the puzzle of many different pieces moving through the same plant without colliding, you will enjoy this. If you need a stable BOM and a repeating line, you will not. The whole plant is yours.
Every department in-charge reports to you — carpentry, panel and CNC, veneer, polish and finishing, upholstery, metal and stone — and so do store and purchase indenting, packing and dispatch, factory HR and attendance, contractor coordination, and production reporting. You report to the owner, and to no one else. Nothing at the factory routes around you.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN Delivery
- The monthly production plan, and the dated schedule behind it, department by department
- A realistic delivery date on every order before it is promised — and then keeping it
- The daily floor meeting: what moved, what is stuck, what is at risk
- Finding the bottleneck each month and clearing it Quality
- The finish standard our customers pay for — fitment and gaps, sheen consistency, veneer matching, drawer and shutter alignment, stone edges, upholstery lines, plating quality
- QC gates between stages instead of one inspection at the end
- Moisture and seasoning discipline on solid wood
- First-pass-right up, rework down, and every customer complaint traced back to its cause on the floor People — the hardest part of this job, and we will be honest about it
- About 120 people across direct staff, contract labour and karigars
- Our churn is too high: roughly half our new hires leave within three months. Fixing that is a headline part of this role, not a footnote
- Building more than one labour source, so no single contractor controls our manpower
- A pay structure that is legal, consistent and defensible — at or above Haryana minimum wage, in practice and not only on paper
- Attendance and overtime discipline through the biometric system
- Building department in-charges who can run the plant when you are away Cost
- The factory cost of every piece, and defending it
- Material yield, cutting plans, wastage, scrap and rework — as measured numbers
- Overtime as a planned tool, not a permanent subsidy for weak planning
- Job-work rates for metal, plating, stone and CNC
- Real cost data feeding into our monthly price list Everything else that makes a factory work
- Store, indenting and stock, so production never stops for a small fitting
- Inward quality inspection of plywood, veneer, hardware, fabric, foam, stone and metal
- Preventive maintenance, machine uptime, tooling and plant housekeeping
- Safety and full statutory compliance — Factories Act, contract labour, PF and ESI including contractor workers, fire, pollution
- Prototyping with our design studio: manufacturability, cost and honest timelines given before a design is frozen
- Running the plant on job cards in our new factory system, and getting your supervisors to actually use it
- Dispatch, packing, site installation and service jobs WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR • 10–18 years in furniture, modular or wood-based manufacturing, with at least 3–5 of those years as Plant Head, Factory Head, Works Manager or Production Head
- Hands-on knowledge across the processes, not just one of them: panel cutting and CNC, edge banding, solid-wood machining and seasoning, veneer pressing, PU/NC/melamine polishing and spray booths, upholstery, and ideally metal and stone
- Proven ability to handle 100+ workers and, importantly,
contract labour and the contractors who supply it
- Real command of statutory compliance for a Haryana factory — Factories Act, contract labour, PF and ESI, minimum wages
- A costing brain. You should be able to open a piece up and say what it should cost and where the money is leaking
- Comfortable working in a system — job cards, BOMs, standard times, daily reporting. Not on memory and loose paper
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Production or Industrial Engineering, or a wood/furniture technology qualification. A candidate who has genuinely run a good furniture plant matters more than the certificate
- Fluent Hindi, working English
- Living within reach of IMT Manesar, or willing to relocate A real advantage: experience in high-end, made-to-order or export furniture, where the finish standard is unforgiving and no two orders are the same. BE EXPLICIT-EYED ABOUT THIS This is a six-day week, on-site at Manesar, and it is a floor job — you will not run this plant from a cabin. You are inheriting a real churn problem, a contract-labour setup that needs to be rebuilt, and a factory system that is still being put in. Some of what you need will not exist yet and you will have to build it.
What you get in exchange: the whole plant, one person to report to, and decisions in a day instead of a quarter. If you have spent years being the person who recommends the fix and waits for someone above you to approve it, here you will be the person who makes the call.
WHAT WE OFFER • A fixed salary matched to what you actually bring — tell us your expectation and we will have a straight conversation about it
- Performance-linked annual incentive against clear factory KRAs — delivery, quality, cost and retention
- Complete ownership of the plant, reporting to the owner directly
- A product worth being proud of: pieces from ₹2 lakh to ₹10 lakh and above, going into homes where every joint gets looked at TO APPLY Send your CV to
[email protected] with the subject "Plant Head — Manesar". In a few lines, tell us about one factory problem you personally fixed — the number before, what you did, and the number after. That will tell us more than the CV will. Dimensions · Factory: IMT Manesar, Gurgaon · Showroom: Sultanpur, MG Road, Current Delhi
