Role Purpose

We are looking for Senior Data scientist to lead the technical automation edge of our Data Science team's work. This role is for someone as comfortable writing SQL/Python and building AI-driven workflows as they are interpreting consulting data someone who can turn repeatable research, data modelling tasks into reliable, scaled-up processes. The Data Science team works horizontally across GlobalData's consulting verticals Consumer, Food & Beverage, Packaging, Retail, Automotive, Agriculture and others — so automation built here is reused across bespoke, client-specific consulting engagements rather than one fixed sector. The team is actively building out a Projects & Skills-based automation pipeline (using tools like Claude) spanning proposal drafting, research instrument design, data consolidation, assisted modelling and report generation. A key focus area is automating secondary desk research — extracting insights from industry reports, online SKU analysis, company financial statements, and consumer survey creation/analysis.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and build automation for the consulting workflow — SKU/store audits, secondary research consolidation, survey data processing, report and deck generation — using Python, SQL and AI-assisted tooling.
- Build automation to extract and structure insights from secondary sources — industry reports, online SKU/pricing audits, and annual/quarterly company financial statements — to speed up model inputs across engagements.




- Develop AI based tools to support consumer survey creation and scripting logic, and to automate first-pass analysis of survey outputs.
- Extend the team's existing Claude-based automation initiative: build and maintain reusable Skills (repeatable SOPs) and Project knowledge bases across proposal, research, modelling and delivery stages.
- Build and maintain SQL/Python pipelines that clean, validate and consolidate structured/unstructured research inputs ahead of modelling — reducing manual analyst effort.
- Support market sizing, forecasting work with a strong analytics lens, including exploring transparent/interpretable forecasting approaches (e.g. driver-based or hierarchical models) as an alternative to black-box outputs.
- Partner with consultants across verticals — Consumer, Food & Beverage, Packaging, Retail and others — on custom consulting solutions, bringing automation and analytics into bespoke, client-specific frameworks rather than standard reporting.
- Manage and coach junior consultants and analysts on automation- and analytics-heavy workstreams.

Required Skills & Experience

- 4-5+ years combining hands-on Python and SQL work with consulting, market research or commercial analytics — this is not a pure engineering role, and consulting/analytics fluency is essential.
- Solid, demonstrable Python skills for data processing,



automation and dashboarding; solid SQL for querying and structuring data.
- Ability to build and deploy streamlit /flask applications and dashboards
- Practical experience building or driving automation using AI/LLM tools (prompt-based workflows, agentic tools, or similar) — able to design a repeatable process
- Prior hands-on experience with statistical modelling, timeseries forecasting
- Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, structured spreadsheet design) for data analysis, and building or working within a data model.
- Experience automating extraction of insights from unstructured or semi-structured secondary sources — industry reports, company financial statements/filings
- Solid grounding in data analytics and quantitative reasoning; able to sanity-check forecasts and automation outputs against consulting judgement.
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to manage or mentor junior data scientists /analysts.
- Preferred: prior experience in market research/strategy consulting and/or market sizing/forecasting modelling.

Good to Have

- Experience with statistical/forecasting techniques (regression-based driver models, Bayesian or hierarchical modelling) for transparent, auditable forecasts.
- Familiarity with building custom tools/dashboards (e.g. Power BI, Excel-based tools, lightweight web apps) for internal or client use.
- Exposure to consulting deliverable types — market sizing decks, SKU audits, competitive benchmarking — in Consumer, Retail, Foodservice, Packaging, Automotive or Agriculture sectors.
