Key Responsibilities
1. Trading Day Operations Leadership (Command & Control)
- Act as the operational owner during market hours, ensuring readiness, stability, and rapid issue resolution.
- Ensure incident response during trading hours as Incident Commander, coordinating across application support, infrastructure/network, security, vendors
- Ensure clear communication to business users, filtering noise while presenting facts, impact, and ETA.
2. Trading Application Ownership (ODIN / Greeksoft / OMS-RMS)
- Own availability, performance, and functional stability of:
- trading terminals
- OMS/RMS systems
- market data and order-routing dependencies
- Build and maintain application runbooks, known-issue logs, restart sequences, and escalation matrices.
- Ensure production issues are resolved through team execution, not heroics.
3. Infrastructure & Connectivity Oversight
- Lead coordination with infra teams on:
- LAN / Wi-Fi health in critical locations
- leased lines, ISPs, redundancy, public IP exceptions (where approved)
- Translate infra constraints into clear operating models for trading teams (what is supported, what is not).
Team Leadership & People Management (Critical)
4. Build and Lead the Trading IT Operations Team
- Lead, mentor, and develop L1 / L2 trading application & infra support staff.
- Define clear role ownership across:
- terminal support
- OMS/RMS support
- infra coordination
- vendor liaison
- Establish shift rosters, market-hour coverage, and backup plans so operations do not depend on individuals.
5. Operational Discipline & Skill Development
- Train the team on:
- trading workflows and failure scenarios
- structured troubleshooting (application vs infra vs network)
- incident communication and documentation
- Drive consistent use of:
- runbooks
- checklists
- incident templates
- post-incident reviews
The goal is a team that responds calmly and predictably, even under pressure.
6. Performance Management & Accountability
- Set clear expectations on:
- response time
- resolution quality
- ownership during incidents
- Conduct regular reviews of:
- incident patterns
- repeat issues
- individual and team performance
- Address skill gaps proactively through coaching or role realignment.
7. Problem Management & Continuous Improvement
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for significant incidents.
- Ensure permanent fixes are implemented and tracked.
- Reduce repeat incidents through:
- system improvements
- process changes
- better monitoring and alerts
8. Change, Release & Vendor Governance
- Enforce disciplined change management around market hours.
- Lead vendor interactions:
- SLA enforcement
- escalation during critical incidents
- patching and upgrade coordination
- Ensure vendors are managed through the team, not directly by traders or leadership.
Required Experience & Skills
- 7 - 12+ years in IT Operations / Application Support within trading, broking, fintech, or capital markets
- Hands-on experience supporting ODIN / Greeksoft / similar trading platforms
- Experience managing Exchange Connectivity (NSE/BSE/MCX)" and leased line redundancy
- Solid understanding of:
- infrastructure fundamentals, networking basics
- endpoint environments used by traders
- Proven experience leading and managing operations teams, not just individual contribution
Leadership Capabilities (Non-Negotiable)
- Experience managing 5 - 15 member support teams
- Ability to stay composed during market-hour pressure
- Clear communication with senior management, vendors
Education
- Bachelors degree in IT / Computer Science / Engineering / Electronics
- ITIL or equivalent operations training (preferred)
