Role Description The Medical Records Manager at MGCHRI is a full-time, on-site role based in Laveru. This role oversees the organization, maintenance, and security of medical records, ensuring that all documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with regulatory and institutional policies. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising medical records staff, assigning and monitoring workloads, and providing training and guidance on best practices in health information management.
The Medical Records
Manager coordinates record retrieval and release of information, supports clinical teams by ensuring timely availability of patient charts, and monitors data quality, coding consistency, and documentation standards. The role also involves implementing and updating records management procedures,
collaborating with IT and clinical leadership on systems improvements, and preparing reports related to medical records operations and compliance.
Qualifications Demonstrated proficiency in Health Information Management and Records Management, including organizing, storing, and securing medical records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Strong Supervisory Skills with experience leading teams, delegating tasks, providing feedback, and fostering a collaborative and accountable work setting.
Solid understanding of Medical Terminology to accurately interpret clinical documentation and support effective communication with healthcare professionals.
Effective Communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication, ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and professionalism in handling confidential information.
Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, data integrity practices, and basic computer literacy (e.g., MS Office applications).
Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to medical records, privacy, and confidentiality (such as HIPAA or local equivalents).
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Diploma or degree in Health Information Management, Medical Records Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field; professional certification in health information or records management is an advantage.
