Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Mechanical Engineering Drawings Quality Engineer to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of engineering drawings before release for manufacturing. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, GD&T;, drafting standards, and manufacturing processes. This role requires close collaboration with design engineers to identify and resolve drawing issues, ensuring high-quality documentation that supports efficient manufacturing and assembly.

Qualifications

- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 28 years of experience in mechanical design, engineering documentation, or drawing quality.
- Fresh graduates with excellent knowledge of engineering drawings may also be considered for junior positions.

Key Responsibilities

- Review and validate mechanical engineering drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, fits, finishes, materials, welding symbols, and manufacturing notes.
- Ensure compliance with ASME Y14.5, ISO GPS, or applicable drafting standards.
- Review Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T;) for correctness and manufacturability.
- Check Bills of Materials (BOMs) for consistency with engineering drawings and assemblies.
- Verify part numbering, revision control, and document release procedures.
- Ensure drawings are suitable for manufacturing, assembly, inspection, and procurement.
- Identify drawing discrepancies and coordinate with design engineers to implement corrections.
- Participate in Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
- Maintain drawing quality checklists and documentation records.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance drawing quality and standardization.




- Work closely with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to resolve documentation-related issues.

Required Technical Skills

- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of GD&T; principles and tolerance stack-up.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, casting, and assembly.
- Familiarity with engineering standards including:
- ASME Y14.5

- ISO 1101

- ISO 2768

- ANSI drafting standards
- Experience with CAD software such as Creo, SolidWorks, NX, or AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems such as Windchill, Teamcenter, Agile, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Skills

- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Understanding of inspection methods and quality control processes.
- Experience with semiconductor equipment, precision machinery, industrial automation, or capital equipment is an advantage.
- Exposure to vacuum systems, precision machined components, or sheet metal assemblies is desirable.
