About role:
A practising advocate to independently handle the company's litigation and contract portfolio — appearing and arguing before courts and tribunals, drafting pleadings and commercial agreements, and advising on labour and employment matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Litigation
- Appear, argue and file cases on behalf of the company before civil and criminal courts, tribunals, labour courts and other forums, including Section 138 NI Act matters end-to-end.
- Track hearings and orders, review legal invoices and control litigation spend.
- Maintain a litigation tracker covering case status, next dates and risk exposure, with periodic MIS to management.
Drafting:
- Draft complaints, plaints, written statements, replies, rejoinders, affidavits, applications,
legal notices and replies to notices.
- Draft and vet commercial contracts — NDAs, vendor agreements, consultancy/service agreements, leave & licence and lease deeds, MoUs, SLAs and allied ancillary agreements.
- Negotiate contract terms and maintain a contract repository with renewal and expiry tracking.
Labour & Employment:
- Ensure compliance under applicable labour and employment legislation.
- Handle matters before labour authorities and labour courts, including conciliation and adjudication.
Key Skills & Requirements;
- Valid Sanad — enrolled with a State Bar Council with a valid Certificate of Practice.
- Independent court craft — able to appear and argue matters personally.
- Section 138 NI Act expertise — full-cycle, hands-on experience.
- Labour and employment law knowledge — advisory and contentious.
- Commercial contract drafting — NDAs, lease/leave & licence, vendor and ancillary agreements.
- Robust pleading and drafting skills across multiple forums.
- Litigation experience — law firm or independent practice.
- In-house experience — prior company legal department exposure.
- Data privacy law knowledge — DPDP Act, 2023 and allied data protection compliance.
Qualification:
- LL.B. / B.A. LL.B. (5-year integrated) from a recognised university; LL.M. an added advantage.
- Bar Council enrolment (Sanad) — mandatory.
- 3–6 years of post-enrolment experience combining litigation and in-house work.
