Role Description This full-time, on-site Junior Consultant – Obstetrics & Gynaecology role is based at Motherhood hospital in Chennai. The role involves providing clinical care in obstetrics and gynecology under the supervision of senior consultants, including outpatient consultations, inpatient ward rounds, and participation in labour and delivery management.

The Junior

Consultant will assist with diagnostic evaluations, perform and support procedures, manage obstetric emergencies, and ensure adherence to clinical protocols and patient safety standards.

Responsibilities also include counselling patients and families,



maintaining accurate medical records, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and participating in case discussions and clinical audits. The role offers opportunities for ongoing learning, exposure to a wide range of cases, and contribution to quality improvement initiatives in women’s and children’s health.

Qualifications

- Recognized medical degree (MBBS) and postgraduate qualification in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (MD/MS/DNB or equivalent).
- Valid medical registration with relevant council and eligibility to practice Obstetrics & Gynaecology in India.
- Clinical skills in antenatal care, intrapartum and postpartum management, gynecological examinations, and basic obstetric and gynecological procedures.
- Ability to assess, stabilize, and manage common obstetric and gynecological emergencies under supervision.
- Strong patient counselling, communication, and interpersonal skills for working with diverse individuals and families.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, adherence to clinical protocols, and careful documentation of patient care.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including nights and weekends, as required in a hospital setting.
- Interest in continuous professional development, participation in clinical teaching, and engagement with quality and safety initiatives.
- Experience or training in a tertiary care or specialty hospital environment is an advantage.
