Senior Consultant - Managed File Transfer (MFT) Automation
Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Consultant to manage and support our Managed File Transfer (MFT) operations and automation initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in enterprise file transfer technologies, server administration, database management, and scripting/automation.
Core Technical Requirements
Managed File Transfer (MFT) Platforms:
- Axway SecureTransport: Hands-on experience with administration, configuration, subscription creation, routing rules, and managing internal/external file transfers using protocols such as SFTP, FTPS, PeSIT, HTTP/S, and AS2
- Axway CFT (Cross File Transfer): Experience with mainframe file transfers, CFT parameter configuration, partner definitions, and end-to-end transfer management
- Axway Sentinel: Proficiency in log monitoring, transfer tracking, event management, and troubleshooting using Sentinel dashboards
- MOVEit Transfer: Experience with MOVEit administration, user/folder management, automation tasks, and secure file transfer workflows
Scripting Automation:
- Python: Strong proficiency in writing automation scripts, API integrations, file processing utilities, and scheduled job orchestration
- Shell Scripting (Bash/KSH): Advanced skills in writing scripts for job scheduling, file validation, transfer automation, and system monitoring on Linux environments
- Additional scripting languages (Perl, PowerShell, or similar) are a plus
Infrastructure Administration:
- Linux Server Administration: Robust experience with RHEL/CentOS-based environments including user management, cron jobs, file permissions, log analysis, and performance tuning
- Oracle Database: Working knowledge of Oracle DB for storage, querying transfer metadata, troubleshooting data issues, and basic SQL/PL-SQL operations
- Patch Management: Experience with application upgrades,
patch deployments, version migrations, and rollback procedures for MFT platforms
Protocols Security:
- Deep understanding of file transfer protocols: SFTP, FTPS, FTP, SCP, PeSIT, AS2, HTTP/S
- Knowledge of SSL/TLS certificate management, PGP/GPG encryption, SSH key management
- Familiarity with firewall rules, DMZ configurations, and proxy setups for secure file transfers
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day MFT operations across Axway SecureTransport, CFT, Sentinel, and MOVEit platforms
- Design and implement automated workflows for file transfers, monitoring, alerting, and error handling using Python and Shell scripting
- Perform application upgrades, patch installations, and environment migrations with minimal downtime
- Administer Linux servers and Oracle databases supporting the MFT infrastructure
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex file transfer failures, connectivity issues, and performance bottlenecks
- Collaborate with external partners and internal teams to onboard new trading partners and configure secure transfer channels
- Maintain documentation for all configurations, processes, and architectural decisions
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide production support during critical business hours
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins) for deploying automation scripts
- Familiarity with Git/GitLab for version control and project management
- Knowledge of monitoring tools (Splunk, Nagios, Grafana)
- Exposure to ITIL practices (Change, Problem, and Incident Management)
- Experience with REST/SOAP API integrations
- Understanding of EDI standards and healthcare data formats (HL7, X12, 837/835)
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, SOX, or PCI-DSS
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for hybrid file transfer architectures
- Experience with containerization (Docker) or configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform)
