Role Summary The Head of Materials is responsible for leading the end-to-end materials management function, ensuring uninterrupted supply of quality materials at optimal cost and inventory levels. The role encompasses strategic sourcing of direct materials, raw material planning and procurement, supplier development, supplier quality assurance, indirect material procurement, and project buying to support the organization's operational and growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and execute sourcing and materials strategies aligned with business and operational goals.

- Lead strategic sourcing and procurement of direct materials, including raw materials, components, and assemblies.

- Drive raw material planning, forecasting, inventory optimization, and procurement to ensure continuous production support.

- Manage component development activities in collaboration with suppliers, engineering, and quality teams.

- Oversee Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) processes to ensure supplier compliance with quality, delivery, and cost expectations.

- Lead procurement of indirect materials, capital equipment, services, and project-related purchases.

- Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships, including supplier selection, negotiation, performance management, and capability development.





- Drive cost reduction, localization, value engineering, and supply chain risk mitigation initiatives.

- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, quality, finance, and project teams to achieve business objectives.

- Lead, mentor, and develop the materials team while driving continuous improvement across procurement and supply chain processes.

Experience & Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field.

- 15+ years of experience in materials management, sourcing, procurement, and supply chain functions within a manufacturing workplace.

- Proven expertise in strategic sourcing, supplier development, inventory management, and project procurement.

- Strong leadership, negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and advanced supply chain practices.
