Role Summary To define and lead the Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR) management framework within the Market Risk department, ensuring robust identification, measurement, monitoring, and control of counterparty exposures. The role will influence the treasury sales business strategy in line with the approved risk framework, ensure regulatory compliance, and support FM/FMO/FMMO in the implementation of current and emerging regulations.

Responsibilities KPIs Strategy and Planning
- Define and drive the counterparty risk management strategy aligned with organizational objectives.
- Establish risk appetite, governance frameworks, and exposure limits for counterparties.
- Identify emerging counterparty risk trends and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Lead portfolio risk assessments and concentration risk reviews.
- Drive process enhancements, automation, and risk reporting initiatives.
- Collaborate with business and risk stakeholders on strategic risk decisions.
- Monitor regulatory developments and ensure framework alignment.
- Provide insights to senior management on counterparty risk exposures and outlook.
- To ensure Robust Risk Framework within the portfolio
- Maintaining an updated and robust Risk framework to cover material risks in the Counterparty credit Risk portfolio for the Bank in line with prudential guidelines / audit observations
- Take care of other periodic as well as adhoc Risk management exercises.
- Monitoring and reporting of risk parameters to senior management
- Provide consistent service to all stakeholders.
- Knowledge Sharing, Mentoring and conducting functional training for the Team
Policies, Processes & Procedures
- Drive Board Approved Policy For eg. Derivates Policy , Suitability and Appropriateness Policy etc.
Framework Development & Governance
- Define, implement, and continuously enhance the Counterparty Risk Management Framework, methodologies, and policies.
- Establish limit structures, risk appetite,
early warning indicators, and escalation protocols for counterparty exposures.
- Ensure governance standards are aligned with Basel III / IV guidelines, RBI regulations, and global best practices.
Business Strategy & Risk Advisory
- Influence and guide the Treasury Sales and Trading businesses by embedding counterparty risk considerations into decision-making.
- Provide independent risk-based challenges on new products, structures, and client strategies.
- Partner with Front Office and Finance to optimize returns within acceptable counterparty risk thresholds.
Risk Assessment & Monitoring
- Oversee measurement of counterparty exposures across derivatives, securities financing, and treasury transactions.
- Ensure robust risk quantification through metrics such as PFE (Potential Future Exposure), CVA (Credit Valuation Adjustment), WWR (Wrong-Way Risk), and stress testing.
- Monitor portfolio concentration, counterparty creditworthiness, and collateral adequacy.
Regulatory Compliance & Implementation
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including Basel III CCR standards, SA-CCR, RBI guidelines, CVA capital framework, and margining rules.
- Drive implementation of new regulations impacting counterparty risk (e.g., uncleared margin rules, SA-CCR adoption).
- Act as the focal point for regulators, auditors, and rating agencies on counterparty risk matters.
Reporting & MIS
- Deliver high-quality MIS, dashboards, and risk reports to FMO/FMMO, Market Risk Committee, Risk Management Committee, and the Board.
- Escalate limit breaches, emerging risks, and stress outcomes with actionable recommendations.
- Provide inputs to ICAAP, stress testing, and recovery planning exercises
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with FMO/FMMO, Treasury Sales, Trading Desks, Finance, and Operations to ensure effective framework implementation.
- Support front office in embedding counterparty risk controls into new business processes.
- Lead discussions with regulators and external stakeholders on counterparty risk practices.
People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of counterparty risk professionals.
- Build analytical and technical capabilities to strengthen the bank’s CCR oversight.
- Drive a strong risk culture across the Financial Markets business.

SECTION VI: ROLE PROFILE REQUIREMENTS Minimum Qualification Which Are Essential To Execute The Role. Education Essential: Bachelor Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Commerce, MBA, Professional Certification such as FRM or CFA
Preferred: MBA in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Risk Management or related field. FRM or CFA
Experience Essential: 12–15+ years of experience in Risk Management, with substantial Counterparty Risk experience in banking/financial services. Counterparty exposure assessment, risk frameworks and governance. Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and risk methodologies. Experience leading teams and managing senior stakeholders
Preferred: Experience in Market Risk, Credit Risk, or Enterprise Risk Management. Exposure to derivatives, capital markets, and collateral management. Experience engaging with regulators, auditors, and risk committees. Exposure to risk analytics and stress testing
