General Manager - Manufacturing Operations

Location: Oragadam, Chennai

Reporting To: Plant Head / Director - Operations

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced General Manager - Manufacturing Operations to lead end-to-end manufacturing operations for a Tier-1 automotive manufacturing facility supplying leading OEMs including Tata Motors, Hyundai, Mahindra, and other domestic and global customers.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in Tier-1 automotive manufacturing, operational excellence, lean manufacturing, quality systems, and customer-focused delivery.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead complete manufacturing operations including Production, Assembly, Planning, Maintenance, Industrial Engineering, and Continuous Improvement.
- Ensure achievement of production targets while maintaining Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Morale (SQCDM) objectives.
- Manage high-volume manufacturing operations catering to Tier-1, Tier-2 suppliers and major OEM customers.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, TPM, Six Sigma, 5S, and World Class Manufacturing (WCM) initiatives.
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), productivity, cycle time, and capacity utilization.
- Lead manpower planning, workforce productivity, and employee engagement across production functions.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Purchase, Logistics, Quality, Engineering, and Customer Service to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Monitor manufacturing KPIs and implement corrective actions for operational excellence.
- Lead current product launches,



process validation, APQP, PPAP, and manufacturing readiness.
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and customer-specific requirements.
- Drive cost reduction through value engineering, waste elimination, automation, and process optimization.
- Interface with OEM customers during audits, quality reviews, and business meetings.
- Develop succession plans and mentor department heads and production managers.
- Ensure statutory, environmental, and safety compliance across the plant.

Required Experience

- 15 to 20 years of experience in automotive manufacturing.
- Minimum 8-10 years in senior manufacturing leadership roles.
- Experience in Tier-1 automotive companies supplying major OEMs.
- Hands-on experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Strong exposure to customer requirements of Tata Motors, Hyundai, Mahindra, Ashok Leyland, Ford, Renault Nissan, Kia, Toyota, or similar OEMs.
