The Operation Theatre Nurse will be responsible to support the Medical Doctor in charge of OT and to ensure adequate standard of nursing care in the operation theatre.

- Ensure preoperative checks are made on accepting the patient into the OT and prior to the administration of any anesthetics or surgical procedure along with the anaesthetist.
- Ensure that surgical policies and procedures are adhered to in relation to operations and correct procedures are followed in the checking of swabsinstrumentsneedles etc.
- Ensure that correct aseptic techniques are used at all times.
- Administer medicines in accordance with guidelinesPolicies and Procedures
- Undertake delegated responsibilities when needed to take charge of a shift without direct supervision.
- Correctly follow routine maintece schedules and sterilization procedures for equipment.
- Administer drugs- oralsublingualintravenousintra dermalsubcutaneous and intramuscular.
- Collect blood samples for blood investigation and monitoring blood glucose values with the use of glucometer.
- Provide clinical supervision and training in nursing procedures in the OT to staff nurses and CCA s when required.
- Maintain aseptic techniques at all times.
- Ensure proper BMW management
- Ward Administration
- Keeping patient belonging in secure custodyaccordance with the laid down policy of the hospital.
- Ensuring sample is sent to lab.
- Report any untoward incident immediately
- Ensure all check list is filled correctly & timely
- Helping the in charge in indenting & checking of drugs & supplies & maintaining the inventory.
- Maintaining nursing procedure records
- Sterilization of articles. Following Infection control practices
- Keeping all the patient record up to date.
- Observing the patient condition and taking prompt action.
- Recording & reporting patient condition as & when required.
- Participating in clinical teaching program.
- Taking care of various equipments and Instructors.
- Attending in-service class regularly.
