Role Description The Freelance Apparel Merchant will manage end-to-end merchandising activities for apparel collections in a remote, contract-based capacity. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating with design and production teams, developing and maintaining product assortments, and ensuring that samples, trims, and fabrics meet quality and timeline requirements.

The role involves vendor and supplier liaison, cost negotiation, order follow-up, and tracking production status to ensure deliveries align with client expectations.



The merchant will analyze market trends, support pricing and line planning, and prepare merchandising reports for internal and client use. Collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders and explicit communication with clients and partners are key components of this role.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess solid merchandising and product management skills, including assortment planning, costing, and order tracking.
- Candidates should possess apparel and textile knowledge, including fabric types, garment construction, and quality standards.
- Candidates should possess vendor and supplier management skills, including coordination, negotiation, and relationship building.
- Candidates should possess analytical and organizational skills, including data interpretation, reporting, and time management.
- Candidates should possess effective communication and collaboration skills for working with remote teams and clients.
- Relevant experience in apparel merchandising for brands, export houses, or fashion retailers is highly beneficial.
- A diploma or degree in Fashion Merchandising, Textile Design, Fashion Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, contract setting with reliable internet access and proficiency in basic office and collaboration tools.
