What we are building

Our core system is a Ruby on Rails application running on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with BigQuery as the data warehouse behind it. It handles the full customer lifecycle: lead and deal management, contracting and onboarding, consumer unit registration with the DISCOs, energy allocation, invoicing, collections, and cancellation. Around it sits a growing set of services automated scraping of distribution company portals, document workflows, APIs with service providers and our ERP system (ODOO), and internal reporting (“Phase 1.0”).We are running two tracks in parallel:

- Phase 1.0 — the Rails platform in production today, running the business day to day. This is the role we are hiring for: keeping it healthy, fast and correct, and continuously upgrading it as the operation grows.
- Phase 1.5 — a system that manages and controls the installed, energy monitor, IoT devices, and distributed energy resources (DERs).

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Senior Developer to take full technical ownership of Phase 1.0 and work alongside the Phase 1.5 team, so the two tracks stay coherent rather than drifting apart. This is a high-ownership role with direct visibility into the business you will talk to the operations, commercial and finance teams who use what you build every day.

Key Responsibilities

- System Ownership: Take full responsibility for the health, maintenance, and optimization of the Phase 1.0 Ruby on Rails application.
- New Features Buildup: Ship features and improvements end to end - mainly around the billing, contract management, energy allocation, reporting, data model,



business logic, background jobs, and UI.
- Feature Upgrades & Maintenance: Architect and deploy necessary feature upgrades, security patches, and performance improvements to the legacy system without disrupting active enterprise users.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work synchronously and asynchronously with the Phase 1.5 development team to align on API structures, data migrations, and system handoffs.
- Database & Cloud Management: Optimize complex queries and manage our managed PostgreSQL instances (Cloud SQL) and BigQuery data warehouses on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Reporting: Work with BigQuery as the analytical layer maintain the views and pipelines that feed our reporting and finance workflows.
- Front-End Modernization: Maintain and refine the user interface using Hotwire (Turbo/Stimulus) and TailwindCSS, keeping the application highly responsive and lightweight.
- Documentation: Write clear documentation and keep the system understandable to people other than you.

Required Qualifications

- Deep Ruby on Rails Expertise: 7+ years of production experience building, maintaining, and scaling full-stack applications in Ruby on Rails.
- Database Proficiency: Strong experience with PostgreSQL,



including optimizing complex queries in Managed Cloud SQL environments. Experience with BigQuery is highly preferred.
- BigQuery writing and optimising SQL, and working with it as an analytical layer alongside an OLTP database.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Proven experience navigating and deploying applications within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Testing: Solid testing discipline (RSpec or Minitest) and experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD.
- Modern Rails Front-End: Hands-on experience building energetic interfaces using Hotwire (Turbo and Stimulus) without relying on heavy Single Page Application (SPA) frameworks.
- Styling: Strong proficiency in TailwindCSS.
- Background Jobs: Extensive experience configuring and managing background processing with Sidekiq and Redis.
- Communication: Excellent written and spoken English. You must be able to document your work clearly and communicate complex technical tradeoffs to a distributed global team.
- Autonomy: Proven ability to thrive in a 100% remote environment, managing your own time and prioritizing effectively with minimal micromanagement.

Nice to have

- Experience with web scraping / browser automation and resilient integrations against unstable external portals.
- Background in fintech, billing, invoicing, subscriptions or any domain with heavy financial reconciliation.
- Experience with the energy sector, utilities or metering data.
- Exposure to Odoo, ERP integrations or accounting data models.
- Comfort using AI-assisted development tools as part of a normal workflow.
