- Facility Mechanical Engineer

Position: Facility Mechanical Engineer

Experience: 4-6 Years

Location: Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu

Industry: Automotive / Automotive Electronics Manufacturing / Electronic Components manufacturing company / EMS

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Facility & Utility Equipment Maintenance

- Manage day-to-day operation and maintenance of mechanical facility utilities.
- Ensure reliable operation of air compressors, chillers, AHUs, HVAC systems, cooling towers, pumps and ventilation systems.
- Monitor utility equipment parameters and ensure operation within defined limits.
- Coordinate with production and other departments for uninterrupted utility supply.

2. HVAC & Air-Conditioning Systems

- Maintain HVAC systems, AHUs, FCUs, package ACs and split ACs.
- Monitor temperature, humidity and air-quality requirements in production and critical areas.
- Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance of HVAC equipment.
- Coordinate with external HVAC service contractors for major maintenance activities.

3. Chiller & Cooling Tower Maintenance

- Operate and maintain chillers, cooling towers, chilled-water pumps and associated piping.
- Monitor chilled-water temperature, pressure, flow and equipment performance.
- Plan preventive maintenance to avoid utility breakdowns.
- Identify abnormal operating conditions and take corrective action.

4. Compressed Air System

- Maintain air compressors, dryers, air receivers, filters and compressed-air distribution systems.
- Monitor compressor pressure, temperature, dew point and operating efficiency.
- Identify and rectify compressed-air leakage.
- Ensure continuous supply of clean and dry compressed air to production equipment.

5. Pumps,



Motors & Mechanical Systems

- Maintain centrifugal pumps, circulation pumps, motors, valves, piping and mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot issues related to vibration, leakage, overheating and abnormal noise.
- Carry out alignment, lubrication and basic mechanical maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with vendors for major equipment repairs.

6. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance

- Prepare and execute PM schedules for facility mechanical equipment.
- Maintain equipment history, maintenance records and checklists.
- Analyze recurring breakdowns and implement root-cause corrective actions.
- Reduce equipment downtime and improve utility equipment availability.

7. Facility Projects & Installation

- Support installation and commissioning of current utility/facility equipment.
- Review equipment specifications, layouts and technical requirements.
- Coordinate with contractors during installation, modification and commissioning.
- Monitor contractor work for quality, safety and adherence to timelines.

8. Energy Management

- Monitor consumption of electricity, compressed air, chilled water and other utilities.
- Identify opportunities for energy conservation and cost reduction.
- Conduct utility consumption analysis and prepare MIS reports.




- Support initiatives to reduce energy losses and improve equipment efficiency.

9. Contractor & Vendor Management

- Coordinate with AMC/service vendors and facility contractors.
- Monitor contractor performance and maintenance activities.
- Verify service reports, maintenance completion and equipment condition.
- Support quotation comparison and technical evaluation where required.

10. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure facility maintenance activities comply with plant safety procedures.
- Follow LOTO, work-permit and safe-maintenance practices.
- Conduct/participate in safety inspections of utility areas.
- Ensure statutory inspections and documentation are completed as applicable.

11. Documentation & MIS

- Maintain PM records, breakdown reports, utility consumption records and equipment history.
- Prepare daily/monthly facility maintenance reports.
- Track MTBF, MTTR, breakdown frequency and equipment availability.
- Maintain SOPs, checklists, maintenance schedules and related documentation.

Preferred Qualification: B.E./B.Tech/Diploma Mechanical Engineering with 46 years of experience in facility maintenance / utilities / plant engineering, preferably in an automotive, automotive electronics, manufacturing or Tier-1 manufacturing environment.
