People & Careers ERCS Appoints Neil Gibbs to Boost Support for Independent Garages Published: June 11, 2025 Author: James Lockwood Neil Gibbs Aims to Strengthen ERCS Member Value and OEM Links.
The Eurorepar Car
Service (ERCS) network has named Neil Gibbs as its new Head of Network, signalling a renewed focus on delivering practical value to members while strengthening ties between OEMs and the independent aftermarket. Drawing on his background at Distrigo, where he served as Parts Operations Manager, Gibbs brings experience from both the OEM supply chain and the independent repair sector. His appointment comes at a time when independent workshops face increasing demands to meet manufacturer-level service expectations, particularly in the context of vehicle electrification.
Supporting
Independents in a Changing Landscape Gibbs believes ERCS can play a critical role in balancing the needs of independent garages with the evolving expectations of consumers and OEMs. “The ERCS message is that it needn’t be OEMs and franchises versus independents,” said Gibbs. “We can work together — that’s what the network stands for.” Independent workshops are under pressure to enhance training, branding, and service quality. However, access to time, tools, and up-to-date technical information remains a key barrier. Gibbs stated that ERCS is reviewing how to make training and support more accessible to garage owners, acknowledging the day-to-day pressures they face.
Emphasising
Data, Community, and Technical Support A core theme of Gibbs' strategy is improving data access and usage for network members.
He stressed that accurate vehicle and market data is becoming vital for independents to remain competitive.
ERCS Plans To Enhance Its Support By: ▪ Delivering flexible training solutions ▪ Strengthening relationships with Distrigo hubs ▪ Promoting collaboration through social channels, working groups, and dealer councils “We want to foster a real sense of pride and community across the network,” Gibbs added. Strengthening the OEM-Independent Connection The move reflects Stellantis' continued efforts to support the aftermarket while promoting OEM-quality service standards across a diverse range of workshops. Gibbs’ focus will be on reinforcing ERCS’s role as a strategic partner — not just a supplier network — for independents navigating industry shifts. His appointment is set to accelerate ERCS’s ability to deliver competitive, quality-assured services without compromising the independence of its members.
