Job Summary
We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead our offshore engineering team in India supporting customer-facing Restaurant POS and Kiosk platforms for 7-Eleven. This role will manage a team of engineers building and enhancing retail and restaurant technology solutions across Java/Spring Boot, React, React Native, and Android (Kotlin).
The ideal candidate will be responsible for people leadership, technical delivery, execution discipline, and strong collaboration with onshore teams across Product, Architecture, QA, and business stakeholders. This person should be comfortable operating in a structured delivery environment, driving predictable outcomes, and ensuring high-quality releases for mission-critical store systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the offshore software engineering team in India for POS, kiosk, and related restaurant technology initiatives.
- Partner closely with onshore engineering and product teams to align priorities, timelines, dependencies, and release plans.
- Drive sprint planning, task allocation, execution tracking, and overall delivery accountability for offshore workstreams.
- Establish a robust engineering culture focused on quality, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Coach and mentor engineers through regular feedback, career development, and technical guidance.
- Ensure the team delivers in a structured, predictable, and measurable manner.
- Provide technical leadership for applications built on Java/Spring Boot backend and React, React Native, and Android/Kotlin frontend/mobile platforms.
- Review architecture, design decisions, and implementation approaches to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Support end-to-end feature delivery including requirements clarification, technical notes, development, integration, testing, and release readiness.
- Guide the team in building Android UI using Jetpack Compose with MVVM architecture, clear state management, and separation of concerns.
- Ensure best practices for Kotlin Coroutines, Hilt/Dagger, RoomDB, and REST API integrations.
- Oversee handling of offline tolerance, resilience, error handling, retries, and client-side performance for kiosk/POS workflows.
- Act as the primary offshore engineering point of contact for onshore stakeholders.
- Work effectively across time zones with US-based teams to provide status updates, raise risks early, and drive issue resolution.
- Translate business and product requirements into clear engineering execution plans for offshore teams.
- Ensure implementation aligns with intended store associate and customer workflows in retail/restaurant environments.
- Facilitate strong communication between offshore and onshore teams to reduce ambiguity and improve execution speed.
- Drive coding standards, peer reviews, test coverage, and adherence to SDLC processes.
- Ensure baseline coverage across unit and integration tests where applicable.
- Support CI/CD practices and ensure all changes meet acceptance criteria before release.
- Monitor delivery risks, production issues, and support release stabilization activities.
- Promote operational readiness and production support discipline for customer-facing applications.
- Encourage responsible use of AI-assisted engineering tools such as Windsurf to improve developer productivity.
- Ensure AI-generated code is validated for correctness, security, maintainability, and alignment with enterprise standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in engineering leadership or team management.
- Strong experience managing offshore development teams and working closely with onshore stakeholders.
- Hands-on technical background in Java / Spring Boot and modern application development practices.
- Strong understanding of frontend and mobile technologies including React, React Native, Android, and Kotlin.
- Experience delivering production-grade, customer-facing applications in a structured SDLC environment.
- Solid understanding of REST API integration, client-side architecture, performance optimization, and error handling.
- Experience with Agile delivery, sprint planning, code reviews, testing, release management, and production support.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate status, risks, and dependencies across global teams.
- Proven ability to manage ambiguity, drive clarity, and deliver reliably within established processes.
