Emotional Designer

DIVAMI DESIGN LABS · HYDERABAD · FULL-TIME · SENIOR

Divami is hiring an Emotional Designer to humanize digital products with creative visual patterns. The goal is to build software that feels like it was made for someone, and that leaves people with something after they use it. Your job would be to change how a product feels using visual patterns, motion, and interaction texture no one else in the category would have invented. If that is already how you approach the work, this role is built for you.

About

Divami

Divami is a design partner to product companies working on hard, high-stakes problems in AI-first platforms, enterprise SaaS, financial products, and category-defining tools. Our clients do not come to us for polish. They come to us because their product needs to feel unmistakable rather than like every other tool in its category, and we build the visual language that gets them there. The role

You would author the visual and interaction language of a product from first principles. That work begins with study, spending real time inside the domain, the environment, and the personas moving through it. You learn how they think, what they already know, and what tends to overwhelm them.

Only then does the direction become obvious, and you build something no one else in the category would have built. You keep it coherent while you move quick, and you can defend the choice when it feels unfamiliar. What you’ll create A brand that couldn’t be anyone else’s.

The unmistakable visual voice of the product, built for its domain and the moment the product exists in. A logo dropped onto a template will not carry this weight, and neither will a palette borrowed from a mood board.

The one moment of feeling. Every product has one place where the user is supposed to feel something specific, whether that is trust, delight, relief, or momentum. You find that moment and design the whole experience around it. Every other screen serves it.

Patterns nobody has used yet. This is not novelty for its own sake. The category-default answer, whether that is the dashboard-with-KPIs, the wizard-in-modal, or the settings-panel-with-toggles, usually leaves value on the table. You push past the expected and invent what actually fits.

A visual hierarchy that matches how this user actually thinks. A data scientist scanning numbers does not need the same hierarchy an explorer browsing offers needs. You segment users by cognition, tech-savviness, and mental model rather than by demographics, and you design differently for each.

The interaction texture. Micro-interactions, motion, transitions, system acknowledgments, gamification, and data-viz choices.

These are the small moments that turn a metric into something meaningful rather than just a number on a screen.

A brand identity earned from the domain. The industry’s realities, the environment users move through, and the emotional stakes of the work all get translated into a system that feels earned rather than applied.

Design systems that hold their shape. Components, tokens, and patterns disciplined enough that other designers pick them up and use them without rework, whether you are still on the project or not.

AI-directed craft. You treat generative tools as sketchbook and provocation rather than as the answer itself. You feed them narrow context (research, personas, visual references), critique what comes back, and hold the holistic view AI cannot see on its own. How you’ll think

Research is fuel for a point of view. It is not a deliverable in itself. You study the industry, environment, workflow, and emotional stakes before opening Figma, because everything downstream turns into guesswork otherwise.

Cognition is the constraint. A user’s tech-savviness, cognitive load, attention budget, and mental models set the shape of what you can design. You take them seriously enough to let them change your first idea.

Opinionated, not compliant. You treat stakeholder input and AI output as inputs to a decision rather than as the decision itself. When your reasoning holds up, you hold the line with that reasoning rather than with defensiveness.

Visual freshness is a claim, not a decoration. It is how the product tells the world it is not like the others. You make freshness deliberate, defensible, and grounded in the domain.

Disciplined even when fast. You keep design systems, layout, and typographic hierarchy rigorous even when generating quickly. When AI is in the loop, the system tends to loosen without anyone noticing, and yours should not.

Proactive vision. You visualize the full product experience before prompting or building anything, rather than working screen by screen and hoping it holds together. The craft

UI and visual design mastery. Color theory, typography, iconography, illustration style, motion, layout, and hierarchy. Craft you can defend on principle rather than just on intuition.

Brand identity design. Turning a domain understanding into a visual system that could belong to no other product.

Design systems from foundation to expert level. Components, variables, tokens, and governance.

Systems that scale without going stale.

Persona-based design thinking. Research that becomes direction rather than documentation. Users understood by how they think, not by who they are.

Directed prompting of generative AI tools for design. Context-setting, visual referencing, and iterative critique. AI as an amplifier of your point of view rather than a substitute for it.

Innovation judgment. Knowing when to invent, when to iterate, and when the safe answer is genuinely the right one. You can defend all three calls. Signals we look for

These are patterns we watch for in how you talk about past work rather than items to tick off a checklist.

Your portfolio doesn’t repeat itself. Each project looks like it was made for its domain rather than adapted from the last one.

You can name a moment. In a past product, the one point where the user was supposed to feel something, and you can describe exactly how you designed for it.

You have a pattern you invented. Something you made because the category default was not good enough, rather than a design system you assembled from someone else’s tokens.

You describe personas by how they think. Cognitive load, mental models, and tech-savviness matter more than job titles and demographics.

You direct AI. You have a clear view on when it helps the work and when it flattens it. First-pass output is a starting point, never the answer.

You have held the line. You can point to a moment you pushed past the safe answer and shipped the disruptive one because the reasoning held, and it worked. Qualifications

7 to 10 years in UI, product, or brand design across multiple industry domains such as enterprise, manufacturing, SaaS, fintech, or healthtech.

A portfolio demonstrating a distinct visual voice per project rather than a single repeated house style. We look for range as much as depth.

Real project experience using AI-assisted design workflows (mood boards, HTML prototyping, generative tools) inside a delivery pipeline, not just as side experiments.

Executive-room confidence. You can walk a CXO through a disruptive direction, take a hard pushback, and reframe the room without getting defensive. Why this role

Authorship, not execution. You define the design direction rather than apply someone else’s.

A new domain every quarter. AI-first platforms, enterprise tools, financial products, and industry-defining software. Range that compresses years of learning.

AI in a real pipeline. You would direct generative tools inside client work, shaping how the whole practice uses them.

Room to shape how we work, not just what we ship. If you have opinions about how design should be practiced, we want them on the table.
