Electrical Engineer

Position Summary The Electrical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of all electrical systems, machinery, and utilities within the blow moulding manufacturing plant. The role focuses on maximizing machine uptime, ensuring electrical safety, reducing breakdowns, improving equipment reliability, and supporting production targets.

Key Responsibilities

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

- Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of blow moulding machines and auxiliary equipment.
- Prepare and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all electrical equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability.
- Maintain maintenance history and equipment records.

Breakdown Maintenance

- Attend electrical breakdowns promptly to minimize production downtime.
- Diagnose and rectify faults in PLCs, control panels, sensors, drives, motors, and electrical circuits.
- Coordinate with production teams for quick restoration of equipment.

Machine Maintenance

- Maintain electrical systems of:

- Blow Moulding Machines

- Air Compressors

- Chillers

- Cooling Towers

- Material Conveying Systems
- Hopper Loaders & Dryers

- Hydraulic Power Packs

- Water Pumps

- DG Sets
- Air Handling & Utility Equipment

PLC & Automation

- Troubleshoot PLC-based control systems.
- Attend faults related to HMI, VFDs, servo drives, sensors, encoders, and control instruments.
- Assist in machine modifications and automation projects.
- Support commissioning and installation of recent machines.

Utilities Management

- Monitor and maintain:

- HT/LT Electrical Systems

- Transformers
- PCC & MCC Panels

- APFC Panels





- DG Sets

- Compressors

- Plant Lighting Systems
- Ensure uninterrupted power supply to production.

Electrical Safety

- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and statutory requirements.
- Conduct periodic inspections of electrical installations.
- Ensure proper earthing, insulation, and safe operation of electrical equipment.
- Implement Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance.

Energy Management

- Monitor plant power consumption.
- Identify opportunities for energy conservation.
- Implement initiatives to reduce electricity costs.
- Analyze power factor and recommend improvements.

Documentation

- Maintain:

- Electrical Drawings

- Panel Layouts

- Preventive Maintenance Checklists

- Breakdown Reports

- Spare Parts Records

- Calibration Records

- Equipment History Cards

Spare Parts Management

- Identify critical electrical spares.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels.
- Raise purchase requisitions for required materials.
- Verify quality of received electrical components.

Continuous Improvement

- Participate in Kaizen, TPM, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Recommend modifications to improve machine reliability and productivity.
- Support CAPA implementation arising from equipment failures.

Coordination

- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Stores, Purchase, and Utility departments.




- Supervise electrical technicians and contract manpower.
- Coordinate with OEM service engineers during major repairs.

Compliance

- Ensure compliance with Factory Safety Standards and Electrical Regulations.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Follow ISO systems, SOPs, and company policies.

Educational Qualification

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.

Experience

- 3–8 years of experience in electrical maintenance in a plastic manufacturing, blow moulding, injection moulding, or similar process industry.
