Job Type: Remote Job Summary We're looking for a Senior Data Governance Lead to own the design, implementation, and maturity of data governance within our Snowflake platform.
Key Responsibilities: Define and implement enterprise-wide data governance policies, standards, and frameworks across the organization
Own Snowflake governance architecture: RBAC hierarchy, database/schema design standards, and governance-as-code (Terraform/schemachange) across the platform
Design and implement Row Access Policies, Column-level Masking, and tag-based energetic masking for PHI, PII, and clinical trial data at scale
Lead compliance efforts for HIPAA, GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, GDPR, and other healthcare/life sciences regulations as they apply to Snowflake
Own audit trail strategy using Access History, Query History, and Object Tagging; prepare evidence for regulatory and internal audits
Define data retention, de-identification, and right-to-be-forgotten workflows (Time Travel, Streams/Tasks) for clinical and research datasets
Own metadata strategy: data classification (PHI/PII/de-identified), business glossary, and lineage; lead integration with enterprise catalog tools (Collibra, Alation, Purview)
Partner with Legal, Compliance, InfoSec, and Clinical Data Management to balance data protection with research/analytics agility
Mentor junior engineers; act as governance SME across the data organization Required Qualifications:
10 –15 years in data governance/engineering, with 4+ years hands-on in Snowflake
Proven experience defining and implementing enterprise-wide data governance policies
Expert in Snowflake RBAC, Row Access/Masking Policies, Secure Views, Object Tagging, Data Sharing
Strong SQL and Python for policy automation
Direct experience with HIPAA and/or GxP compliance requirements in a healthcare or life sciences workplace
Experience with an enterprise data catalog/lineage tool
Strong stakeholder communication skills; comfortable presenting to compliance/audit teams Preferred Qualifications:
SnowPro Advanced certification
Experience governing clinical trial, EHR, or real-world data (RWD/RWE) in Snowflake
