Company Description C3iHub at IIT Kanpur is a national hub for cybersecurity research and innovation, established under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) with support from the Department of Science and Technology. The hub operates at the intersection of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) and cybersecurity, focusing on technology development, translation, and entrepreneurship. It builds a comprehensive cybersecurity ecosystem by analyzing security vulnerabilities, developing and deploying tools across system architectures, and partnering with industry for co-development and technology transfer.
C3iHub also supports the creation of cybersecurity start-ups and is committed to training the next generation of cybersecurity researchers through cutting-edge projects and collaborations.
Role Description The Cybersecurity Research Engineer will work full time, in office at IIT Kanpur, contributing to research and development projects in application, network, and information security. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and implementing security solutions, performing vulnerability assessments, developing tools and prototypes, and translating research outcomes into deployment-ready software. The role involves collaborating with faculty, researchers, and industry partners, preparing technical documentation and reports, and presenting findings in internal reviews or external forums.
The engineer will also support mentoring of students and interns, contribute to grant and project proposals, and stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, standards, and best practices.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong skills in Cybersecurity and Information Security, including security principles, threat modeling, and secure system design.
Candidates should possess skills in Network Security and Application Security, with experience in securing protocols, applications, and services.
Candidates should possess skills in Vulnerability Assessment, including security testing, code review, and use of common assessment tools and frameworks.
Relevant experience with penetration testing, secure coding practices, cryptographic concepts, and security automation is beneficial.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or Java, and familiarity with Linux-based environments and scripting.
Strong analytical and research skills, ability to design experiments, interpret results, and translate findings into practical solutions.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary research teams.
