Role Description The Cross Border Tech Compliance Advisor is a part-time, remote role responsible for guiding TIMSS and its clients on regulatory and compliance requirements related to technology use across different jurisdictions. Day-to-day tasks include researching and interpreting cross-border data protection, cybersecurity, and export control regulations, and translating these into clear, practical guidance for industrial and manufacturing environments. The advisor will review training content and internal processes for compliance risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and support the development of policies and procedures that align with international standards.
This role also collaborates with trainers and leadership to ensure that course materials and digital platforms reflect current legal and regulatory expectations in relevant markets. The advisor may participate in client consultations, webinars, and documentation updates to help organizations adopt compliant, effective technology practices.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of cross-border technology regulations, including data protection, privacy, and cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., GDPR or similar regimes,
industry-specific standards).
Experience interpreting and applying compliance requirements to operational processes in industrial or manufacturing contexts, or similar regulated environments.
Proficiency in policy drafting, risk assessment, and creating clear compliance guidelines for non-legal audiences.
Ability to conduct structured legal and regulatory research, synthesize complex information, and present concise recommendations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote, multicultural setting.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Law, Compliance, International Business, Information Security, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, or compliance-focused credentials) are an advantage.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage part-time workloads, and meet deadlines across multiple projects.
Familiarity with quality management, continuous improvement, or industrial standards (such as ISO frameworks) is beneficial.
