About The Role We are seeking a highly experienced CPU Software Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering Group within Qualcomm. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the future of CPU architecture and software development for a variety of high-performance products.

You will be integral to developing low-level firmware essential for CPU bootstrapping, power management, and debugging. Your work will directly impact the performance, efficiency, and security of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets used in smartphones, IoT devices, automotive systems, laptops, and XR applications. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of embedded systems, multi-core ARM architectures, and firmware development, with a passion for innovation and problem-solving in complex hardware-software ecosystems.

Qualifications

- 10+ years of experience in embedded systems development, specifically with multi-core ARM/CPUs, demonstrating strong proficiency in C/C++ programming.
- Extensive background in developing embedded platform solutions, including low-level drivers, firmware, kernel modules, and user-space components.
- Proven experience in designing and developing software for heterogeneous compute platforms involving ARMs, GPUs, DSPs, and hardware accelerators within embedded SoC systems.
- Hands-on experience with debugging tools such as J-TAG or ICE debuggers, and real-time software development for embedded products.
- Experience in driver development on RTOS platforms,



understanding of real-time constraints, and hardware-software integration.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 4+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years, or PhD with 2+ years.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
- Strong understanding of SoC hardware components including clocks, PLLs, GPIO, interrupt controllers, peripherals like SPI, I2C, PCIe, CAN, Ethernet, USB, and UFS.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and geographies.
- Proven ability to work independently, lead technical initiatives, and influence product development roadmaps.

Responsibilities As a CPU Software Engineer at Qualcomm, your primary responsibilities will include designing, developing, and supporting low-level firmware for CPU boot processes, power management, and debugging. You will lead efforts in defining architecture specifications and developing prototypes aligned with long-term product roadmaps. Collaborating with hardware and software teams, you will address complex microarchitecture issues such as prefetching, speculation, and memory ordering to optimize CPU performance and efficiency. You will coordinate the development and validation of firmware related to CPU power states, including idle and active modes, ensuring seamless integration with hardware components.

Your role involves working closely with Arm architects and third-party partners like Google and Microsoft to influence and implement architectural features aligned with the evolving Arm ISA standards. Debugging critical software issues, especially those arising from high-performance microarchitectural behaviors, will be a key component of your responsibilities.

Additionally,



you will contribute to defining the software architecture roadmap for future CPU developments, ensuring alignment with industry standards and emerging technologies. You will represent Qualcomm’s CPU software teams in technical engagements and foster collaboration across various internal and external stakeholders. Your expertise will help shape the next generation of Snapdragon processors, impacting a wide range of products and markets.
