Operate and monitor cold drawing machines to reduce the diameter and wall thickness of steel tubes while maintaining dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate cold drawing machines according to production requirements.
- Prepare dies, plugs, mandrels, and lubricants before production.
- Load and unload steel tubes safely.
- Monitor drawing speed, alignment, and machine performance.
- Measure tube dimensions using gauges, micrometers, and other inspection tools.
- Identify and report defects such as scratches, cracks, bends, or dimensional deviations.
- Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
- Follow production schedules and meet daily output targets.
- Maintain quality records and production documentation.
- Comply with safety, housekeeping (5S), and company procedures.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of the cold drawing process for seamless or welded steel tubes.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with measuring instruments.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Understanding of quality standards and workplace safety.
Qualifications
- ITI/Diploma in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering (preferred).
- 2–5 years of experience in cold drawing operations in a steel or tube manufacturing plant.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing/shop floor workplace.
- Rotational shifts may be required.
- Use of appropriate PPE and adherence to safety protocols.
