VI-SIGNAL-001 is a remote, app-based, non-interventional and non-diagnostic research validation study. It evaluates the agreement between a system's non-diagnostic pattern outputs and independent, clinician-derived research reference labels applied to the same participant-provided data (facial images, guided facial video, and questionnaire responses). The study does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or advice to participants.

Role Summary The Clinician Reviewer independently and blindly reviews assigned, coded participant cases and assigns structured research reference labels for each predefined pattern category, in line with the study's approved reference-label definitions. These labels form the reference standard against which the system's outputs are validated. The pattern categories are predominantly systemic conditions with facial signs (for example diabetes, jaundice, anaemia, thyroid, dehydration), alongside some dermatological patterns.

The role is research-only and involves no clinical care, diagnosis, or contact with participants.

Key Responsibilities

Review assigned coded cases (facial images, guided video, and questionnaire responses) through the secure study portal.

Assign a structured research reference label (Present / Absent / Not assessable) for each predefined pattern category, using only the approved response options and definitions.

Work independently, and remain blinded to system-generated outputs and to other reviewers' assessments at all times.

Select “Not assessable” where image quality or available information does not allow a reliable determination.





Apply the labelling criteria consistently across all assigned cases.

Maintain the confidentiality and security of all participant data and comply with the approved protocol and applicable ethical requirements.

Role Boundaries

This role does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical advice, and provides no clinical interpretation to participants.

Research reference labels are for research use only; they are not clinical diagnoses.

The role involves no contact with participants at any stage.

Participant data must not be copied, downloaded, screenshotted, exported, or shared; access is through the secure portal only, on a least-privilege basis.

Qualifications and Experience

Registered medical practitioner in good standing with the relevant medical council.

MBBS required; Dermatology experience is an advantage but not required.

Clinical familiarity with how systemic conditions present through external and facial signs.

Ability to apply structured criteria consistently, with strong attention to detail.

Comfortable working within a blinded, protocol-driven research workflow (study-specific training provided).

Pre-Engagement Requirements

Signed confidentiality undertaking and conflict-of-interest declaration.

Completion of reviewer-specific training and blinding orientation before accessing any cases.

Role-based secure-portal access granted on a least-privilege basis.

Compensation and Terms

Honorarium of ₹1,500–3,000 per hour, on a consultancy basis for the study period.

Part-time, remote, and flexible; case volume assigned by the study team.

Subject to study monitoring, inter-rater consistency checks, and continuing oversight by the Principal Investigator.

Compensation is not linked to how any case is labelled.
