Position: Barista

Department: Front of House (FOH)

Reporting To: Café Manager

Location: Vanilla Miel Café

Job Summary The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, tea, and other beverages while delivering an exceptional guest experience. The role requires excellent product knowledge, attention to detail, speed, cleanliness, and a warm, customer-focused attitude. The Barista is also responsible for maintaining coffee equipment, following hygiene standards, and supporting daily café operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesBeverage Preparation

- Prepare espresso-based beverages, specialty coffees, teas, and other café drinks according to company recipes.
- Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation.
- Perform basic latte art and beverage garnishing where required.
- Maintain proper brewing temperatures and extraction standards.

Customer Service
- Welcome guests warmly and provide friendly, skilled service.
- Take customer orders accurately and process payments through the POS system.
- Recommend beverages, desserts, and food items to increase sales.
- Handle customer feedback and resolve minor complaints professionally.

Food & Beverage Service
- Serve beverages and food items promptly.
- Ensure orders are complete, accurate, and presented neatly.
- Follow portion control and presentation standards.

Hygiene & Cleanliness
- Maintain cleanliness of coffee machines, grinders, counters, utensils, and workstations.
- Follow FSSAI food safety and hygiene guidelines.
- Perform opening, closing, and shift cleaning duties.
- Ensure proper waste segregation and disposal.

Inventory & Stock Control
- Monitor daily stock of coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, and other consumables.
- Inform the Café Manager of low stock levels.
- Store ingredients according to food safety standards.
- Minimize wastage through proper handling and portion control.





Equipment Maintenance
- Operate espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and brewing equipment safely.
- Perform daily cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunction immediately.

Team Support
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and service staff.
- Assist during peak business hours.
- Participate in training sessions and implement current beverage standards.

Qualifications
- Higher Secondary (12th Pass) or Graduate preferred.
- Certification in Barista/Coffee Making is an added advantage.

Experience
- 1–3 years of experience as a Barista in a café, coffee shop, hotel, or restaurant.
- Freshers with relevant training and strong willingness to learn may also be considered.

- Knowledge of espresso machines and coffee brewing techniques.

- Trimmed nails with no excessive jewellery.
- Friendly, energetic, and professional appearance.
