The role

Teach chemistry across B.Sc. — organic, inorganic and physical — with full laboratory instruction. Chemistry carries the heaviest safety and compliance burden of any undergraduate science subject, and that responsibility sits with the faculty member running the lab.

Full time, on-site at Babatpur, Varanasi.

Responsibilities Subject teaching

Teach organic chemistry: structure and bonding, stereochemistry, reaction mechanisms, functional group chemistry, and spectroscopy fundamentals

Teach inorganic chemistry: periodicity, coordination chemistry, main group and transition elements, and organometallics

Teach physical chemistry: thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, electrochemistry, quantum chemistry, and surface phenomena

Teach analytical chemistry and instrumental methods where offered

Support the MA Home Science (Food & Nutrition) programme where chemistry underpins its syllabus

Mentor students toward M.Sc., PhD, JAM, GATE, and pharmaceutical, food and analytical industry pathways

Laboratory

Run the chemistry laboratory — qualitative and quantitative analysis, organic preparations, physical chemistry experiments, and titrimetric work

Own laboratory safety and chemical management — storage, handling, labelling, disposal, and inventory of reagents including controlled and hazardous substances

Maintain apparatus, glassware and instrumentation, and enforce safety protocol

Curriculum, assessment and department

Design and update course content to MGKVP syllabi under the NEP 2020 framework

Set and evaluate internal assessments aligned to MGKVP examination patterns

Contribute to departmental research output and to institutional academic and co-curricular activity Qualifications

Essential

M.Sc. Chemistry from a UGC-recognised university

UGC NET or PhD in Chemistry — required for this appointment

Ability to teach at undergraduate level and to run laboratory practicals
