Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Application Packaging Engineer (L3) to join our End User Experience team. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) and single point of accountability for enterprise application packaging services, ensuring the successful packaging, testing, deployment readiness, lifecycle management, and support of business applications across the organization.

This role requires strong technical expertise in Windows application packaging, deployment technologies, troubleshooting, automation, and stakeholder management. The candidate must demonstrate ownership, accountability, customer focus, and the ability to independently drive application packaging initiatives from request intake through production deployment. Key Responsibilities

Application Packaging & Deployment

Package, repackage, and customize applications using enterprise packaging standards and industry best practices.

Create MSI, MSIX, App-V, IntuneWin, and other deployment-ready application packages.

Support application deployments through Microsoft Intune, MECM/SCCM, Microsoft Endpoint Manager, and other deployment platforms.

Perform application installation, configuration, customization, and deployment readiness validation.

Conduct application compatibility testing across supported operating systems and environments.

Manage complex packaging requests, application upgrades, version updates, and remediation activities.

Testing & Quality Assurance

Perform functional, regression, and deployment testing before production release.

Validate application performance, dependencies, installation behavior, and uninstall processes.

Ensure packaging quality standards are consistently achieved before deployment approval.

Maintain a First-Time-Right packaging success rate of at least 95%.

Incident, Problem & Escalation Management

Act as the primary escalation point for application packaging-related incidents and issues.

Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve packaging failures, deployment issues, and application conflicts.

Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement preventive measures.

Collaborate with application owners, infrastructure teams, security teams, and vendors to resolve complex issues.

Service Delivery & Ownership

Take complete end-to-end ownership of assigned packaging requests from initiation to closure.





Manage application packaging requests within defined SLAs and operational targets.

Serve as the primary point of contact for internal customers, project teams, and support organizations.

Proactively manage risks, dependencies, and blockers to ensure timely delivery.

Drive resolution of technical challenges independently while engaging relevant stakeholders as required.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

Develop and maintain packaging documentation, technical guides, deployment instructions, and validation reports.

Create and maintain standardized intake forms, request checklists, and packaging templates.

Update knowledge repositories and ensure documentation remains current and audit-ready.

Support audit, compliance, software licensing, and governance requirements.

Continuous Improvement & Automation

Identify opportunities to automate packaging, testing, and deployment processes.

Develop scripts using PowerShell and related technologies to improve efficiency.

Recommend process improvements, standardization opportunities, and service enhancements.

Support application modernization, rationalization, and digital workplace transformation initiatives.

Stakeholder & Customer Management

Engage with business stakeholders, application owners, project managers, security teams, and vendors.

Provide regular status updates, service reports, remediation trackers, and executive communications.

Participate in operational reviews, governance meetings, and customer service reviews.

Ensure customer satisfaction through responsive and professional engagement.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.

Experience

7–10+ years of overall IT experience.

Minimum 5+ years of dedicated Application Packaging experience.

Proven experience supporting large enterprise environments.

Experience managing application packaging services independently.

Strong hands-on experience with Intune and MECM-based deployments. Core Competencies
