Purpose/Objective
The role is responsible for sourcing copper secondary products from domestic and international suppliers and approved global counterparties to ensure uninterrupted availability for operations.
The incumbent will drive long-term sourcing arrangements, commercial negotiations, supplier development, market intelligence, quality and assay coordination, import logistics support, risk management, and compliance with procurement governance requirements
Key Responsibilities of Role
.
International / Domestic secondary copper Sourcing - Develop and execute sourcing strategies for copper secondary from international and domestic players , traders, equity off-takers, and approved global counterparties.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new global suppliers to ensure supply security and source diversification.
- Build and maintain relationships with miners across key copper concentrate-producing regions.
- Establish long-term contracts, off-take arrangements, and strategic sourcing partnerships to support smelter feed requirements.

Commercial Negotiation & Contract Management - Lead techno-commercial discussions and negotiations for TC/RC, LME-linked pricing, quotational period, payable metals, penalty elements, moisture, assay, shipment, and payment terms.
- Prepare and close term sheets, long-term contracts, spot contracts, framework agreements, and amendments as per business requirements.
- Evaluate sourcing economics including landed cost, freight, quality impact, commercial exposure, and contract risks.
- Ensure adherence to approval processes, delegation of authority, contract governance, and documentation standards.

Supply Planning & Feed Security - Coordinate with production, smelter operations, planning, quality, EXIM, logistics, finance, and treasury teams to ensure timely availability of copper concentrate.
- Monitor shipment schedules,
inventory position, pipeline cargo, and expected material arrivals to avoid feed shortages.
- Develop alternate sourcing and contingency plans to manage disruptions in mine supply, shipping, documentation, or geopolitical conditions.

Market Intelligence & Cost Optimization - Track global copper concentrate market trends, mine production, TC/RC movements, LME price trends, freight movements, smelter demand, and geopolitical developments.
- Prepare market intelligence notes, sourcing options, risk assessments, and commercial recommendations for management decision-making.
- Identify cost improvement opportunities through better sourcing mix, freight optimization, commercial terms, and supplier diversification.
5.
Supplier Relationship & Counterparty Management - Conduct supplier due diligence, KYC, sanctions screening, ESG checks, credit evaluation, and responsible sourcing compliance before onboarding or contracting.
- Manage supplier performance reviews covering quality, shipment reliability, documentation accuracy, commercial compliance, and service responsiveness.
- Resolve supplier disputes related to assay, quality, shipment, documentation, pricing, and contract interpretation.
6.
Import Logistics, Documentation & Execution - Coordinate with EXIM, shipping, port, freight forwarders, surveyors, banks, customs agents, and logistics partners for smooth import execution.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation including bill of lading, commercial invoice,
certificate of origin, assay certificate, insurance, LC documents, and customs documents.
- Track vessel nominations, laycan, ETA, discharge plan, port readiness, and material availability while minimizing demurrage and detention risks.
7.
MIS, Governance & Process Excellence - Maintain accurate MIS on supplier pipeline, contracts, shipments, inventory visibility, pricing, TC/RC trends, risks, and savings initiatives.
- Ensure timely updates in SAP/ERP/CTRM or relevant business systems for contracts, purchase orders, amendments, and settlement support.
- Support procurement process improvements, digitalization, reporting automation, and audit readiness.

Qualifications and Experience

Tech in Metallurgy, Mechanical, Chemical, Mining, or related engineering discipline; MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain, International Business, Operations, or Materials Management preferred.
- 5–10 years of experience in raw material sourcing, international procurement, commodity sourcing, supply chain, or strategic sourcing.
- Preferred experience in copper concentrate, non-ferrous metals, mining, smelting, commodities trading, import procurement, or manufacturing industries.
- Exposure to global miner engagement, TC/RC negotiations, LME-linked pricing, import documentation, and commodity market intelligence will be an added advantage.
- Robust understanding of copper concentrate sourcing, mine supply chain, international trade, and commodity procurement.
