Job Summary

We are looking for a result-oriented purchase engineer to manage end-to-end procurement of mechanical components, machine parts, raw materials, and consumables for our machine manufacturing operations. The candidate will be responsible for vendor sourcing, negotiation, order processing, and timely delivery while maintaining accurate procurement records in BUSY ERP software.

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing & Vendor Management

- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors for mechanical parts, machined components, sheet metal items, fasteners, bearings, gears, hydraulic and pneumatic components, motors, fabricated parts, and other machine-building items.
- Float RFQs (Request for Quotations), collect quotations, and prepare comparative statements for management approval.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and commercial terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
- Maintain and update an approved vendor list and continuously develop alternate sources to reduce dependency.

Purchase Operations

- Generate Purchase Orders (POs) in BUSY ERP based on production requirements, BOMs, and indents raised by design, production, or stores.
- Follow up rigorously with vendors for on-time delivery of materials as per the production schedule.
- Coordinate with stores and quality teams for timely inspection (incoming QC) and resolution of rejections, shortages, or wrong supplies.
- Handle documentation related to purchase: POs, GRNs, invoices, delivery challans, e-way bills, and material returns.

ERP & Documentation (BUSY Software)

- Perform all purchase-related entries in BUSY ERP,



including vendor master creation, PO generation, GRN posting, purchase invoice booking, and debit/credit notes.
- Maintain an accurate item master, rate history, and vendor records in BUSY.
- Generate procurement MIS reportspending POs, vendor-wise purchase, item-wise consumption, price trends, and stock vs. requirement reports.
- Reconcile vendor ledgers in coordination with the accounts team.

Cost & Inventory Control

- Work towards continuous cost reduction through better negotiation, alternate sourcing, and value engineering ideas.
- Coordinate with stores to maintain optimum inventory levels—avoid stock-outs as well as overstocking.
- Track minimum stock levels of critical items and trigger timely procurement.

Coordination

- Coordinate closely with design, production planning, stores, quality, and accounts departments for smooth material flow.
- Resolve quality- and supply-related issues with vendors and ensure corrective actions.
- Assist in import procurement, if required, including coordination with CHA and freight forwarders and handling related documentation.

Required Qualifications

- Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.
- 2–5 years of experience in purchase/procurement, preferably in a machine manufacturing, fabrication, or engineering industry.
- Robust knowledge of mechanical parts, machined components, raw materials (MS, SS, alloy steel), bearings, fasteners, hydraulics, pneumatics, and bought-out items used in machine building.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand technical specifications.
