Job Purpose

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit according to established standards and procedures. Assists in the administration of nursing programmes by providing supervisory skills needed in directing, planning, implementing, evaluating and coordinating nursing care and the delivery of patient care in an assigned unit.

Essential duties and responsibilities

- Maintain and update inventory time to time.
- Keep proper record of consumptions.
- Ensure that comprehensive care is given to each patient and evaluates the services rendered.
- Schedules nursing personnel to ensure adequate staffing for each shift 24x7.
- Collaborates with unit nurses in determining and obtaining equipments and supplies needed in the performance of patient care.
- Guide nursing personnel in identifying patient and companion's needs.
- Participates in setting patient care standards, counsel relatives when required.
- Coordinates with the consultants to ensure that good nursing care is provided.
- Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit according to established standards and procedures. Ensure 24x7 hours planning for assigned unit.
- Assists on orientation of recent personnel and participate in continuing educational program and clinical nurse training.




- Conducts regular staff meetings with the staff.
- Ensure comprehensive care to assigned patients by unit nurses.
- Keeps an up-to-date information/knowledge of the unit and drug changes and instructs staff of such changes.
- Inform Lead - Nursing Services regarding nursing unit issues and needs, review and recommending changes in the policies and procedures.
- Assist the Lead - Nursing Services in the investigation of reports of incidents, suspected infections and patient/doctor complaints and resolves problems or recommends probable action.
- Assist the Lead - Nursing Services in justification in the ordering of equipment and supplies required by the units. Ensure compliance with quality and accreditation standards.
- Identify appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.
- Ensure highest standards of ethical medical practices in the hospital. Ensure the proper disposal of sharps and hospital waste.
- Take responsibility for the Sr. Nurses / Nurses who reports to the position.
- Provide on job orientation to nursing personnel and keep them informed of the philosophies, policy and procedures to be followed in caring for patients and their families.
