Position Description:

We are looking for a skilled Micro Focus COBOL Developer with 38 years of experience in developing, enhancing, and supporting enterprise applications built using Micro Focus COBOL on Unix/Linux or Windows platforms. The ideal candidate should have strong COBOL programming skills, experience with relational databases, and the ability to work across the full software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications using Micro Focus COBOL.
- Analyze business requirements and prepare technical design documents.
- Develop new modules and enhance existing applications.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, and support user acceptance testing.
- Troubleshoot application issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Support production applications and resolve incidents within agreed SLAs.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries and database interactions.
- Work with sequential, indexed, and relative files.
- Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, and other development teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Prepare technical documentation and support knowledge transfer activities.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies where applicable.

Must-Have Skills:





- Strong hands-on experience with Micro Focus COBOL (Visual COBOL / Server Express / Net Express or Enterprise Developer).
- Experience developing applications on Unix/Linux and/or Windowsplatforms.
- Strong knowledge of COBOL programming concepts and modular application design.
- Experience with shell scripting (Unix/Linux) and batch scripting (Windows).
- Good knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or DB2
- Experience with file handling, batch processing, and application troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with version control tools such as Git.
- Experience with build and deployment processes.
- Good understanding of SDLC, coding standards, and application support.

Good-to-Have Skills

- Experience with Micro Focus Enterprise Server or Enterprise Developer.
- Exposure to migrating legacy COBOL applications to contemporary platforms.
- Knowledge of Java is an advantage.
- Experience using Jenkins or other CI/CD tools.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Experience working in a product engineering environment.
- Experience in ERP product development.
- Experience working in HRM, Banking, Insurance, Healthcare or Manufacturing, domains.
